The Rise Of The Baddest Blade In The Land. . . The Anorexic Fusion Battle Mistress!!!. . . . Coming Wednesday, November 2, 2022 At 9:00 pm Eastern!!!

Is there any machining done under the handle scales to alter the weight distribution such as through holes or skeletonizing? This was my main dislike with the Battle Grade FBM that I owned years back was that I felt there was too much weight in the handle in relationship to the blade, which made it feel quite slow in hand. I am not certain just using slightly thinner stock alone would change this significantly but you have said it made for a much faster blade so I'm just trying to understand if there was more than meets the eye going on here.

That is a great question

In my humble opinion, the stonewashed finish is glorious. No, it's probably not as sexy as the Comp finish but it's glorious, nonetheless.

My first stonewashed INFI was the Stonehenge HR2, and I've beaten that thing more than any knife deserves. A little Dawn and a wet sponge, a short drying hang from the handle of one of the kitchen drawers, and some 3-IN-ONE or Ballistol, and that thing looks like it just came out of the shipping box.

Just my $0.02. Your mileage may vary.
This is great info.thank you.
I figure I could always buy the coated like inhale done for every over BM I have ever bought and strip it. But the finish of the stone washed would likely be better than the finish after removing coating if I went that way.

I like the idea of the stonewashed. It bet it cuts and cleans up nice.

Hmmmm, maybe the solution is buy one of each. Haha. It's only money.! :)

Mmmm! Bought my first Busse back in '98 (Steel Heart II) and many since. Only one BM though. This does look great and I appreciate the thinner dims!

I’ve been waiting on these to make a comeback! The downside, I’m still suffering from buying a new truck and a 2 week camping vacation in Yellowstone and Glacier in July.

So I’ll have to sneak one in between getting the house ready to sell and moving to our next duty station in ‘23

Thank you very much because I also want to get a Stonewashed and haven't tried it yet. I love the comp finish, but I plan on beating and abusing my skinny mistress, so I want to hide all the scars she'll have and keep her looking pretty.

Ok, so there seems to be a lot of love for the stonewash finish.....

I had planned to pick up the satin finish since I tend to like that look better, but beyond personal taste, is there some advantage to the stonewash finish that might explain why people seem to prefer that and I don't see as many people talking about wanting the satin finish?

Also, I'm planning to get the black G10 as shown in the first image (SO SEXY!). Does the G10 have much advantage over the black micarta? I thought G10 might be a little tougher and more resilient to accidental blows and cold temperatures, but micarta might feel a little nicer in the hand?

Either way, I'm really looking forward to this handle finish/pattern as seen on the Fusion Force 9!

This will be my first INFI knife and largest one I own so far. CANNOT WAIT to get this awesome beast in hand and put her to work!

Thanks Jerry Busse Jerry Busse and crew!

I see 2 distinct advantages:
1. Stonewashed finish hides minor scratches from use better than satin finished, & INFI, as tough as it is as a hard use knife steel, scratches fairly easily, & satin finish doesn't hide them (although I do like a good Busse satin finish)
2. It's $100 less. 😁 So those buying for using may probably consider these 2 points when deciding their options, collectors might want the full package. Also, I believe that this will be the 1st Mistress to be offered with Stonewashed finish as an option.

I'm in for a Stonewashed/micarta. 🤙

Thanks for that Jaxx!

Yeah, that price point difference is a nice advantage, lol. But now I gotta decide how bad I want that satin finish. May just get used to the stonewashed if I plan on making this a user.

To be perfectly honest, the hard part isn't deciding what I want or even trying to get myself to be OK with my second choice rather than my first, it's going to be waiting, impatiently, for this thing to show up in the mail!

Someone hold my beer while I pickup an expensive Mistress that I know I can't afford right now.... :p :p
LOL I did a double take on the price too- being around Busse for 15 years is sometimes a mental disadvantage when comparing long past prices to current prices in today's economy 😅
In 2006 the FBMLE was $697 🤫😅
Still in for Another Freakin' Battle Mistress tho...lol 😄😉👍

When you say "comp" finish, are you talking about the competition finish? If so, it is by far the best for a user, IMO. To me, it kinda looks beat up when I first get it. I've yet to see my first scratch on one.
If you are referring to the satin finish when you say "comp," it is going to show user scratches MUCH worse. Especially if you get dust/sand/grin a sheath that you are putting it in and taking it out a lot. Because that will put scratch across the grain of the satin finish.

Now, I will say that I just got my first stonewash finish, on a TGULB, and I haven't had a chance to beat on it yet. Just looking at the finish, I think it will hide scratches very well, just like people have said on here.

But competition is my favorite finish.

ETA: for a $30 premium over coated, stonewashed on this blade is a STEAL!

I did that same price search and after reading the price from the original LE release, suddenly I’m fine dropping 700 on a satin version. 🤡
