The Sebenza 25 has arrived! (pic heavy)

that sounds great :) dont hesitate to get one! ive used mine for every single cutting task ive found so far, even slicing the christmas ham and that really needed a longer knife, but i power thru it :)

Well, I'm sitting here looking at a new Large Sebenza 25. I noticed the born on date is 11/21/2012. Does that mean I can list it for $1200 and then drop it to $650 to make it seem like a bargain? ;) Joking.

Thus far, I have managed to jam my thumb right into the point of the blade while it was in my back pocket. I tried to do it and it was easy to do. Reminds me of the Umnumzaan I use to have in that the handle is narrower from side to side/edge to edge than other Large Sebenzas. Anyhow, this may take some getting use to for some folks like me. After looking at it alongside my Large 21 EDC and a Large Classic, it seems like the "pommel" of the handle has less material in the curved radius portion. And the point of the blade, when folded closed, is moved a few millimeters closer to the front of the knife ie: the edge of the handle that isn't the spine. The radius area that connects the pommel to the flat length of the handle is smaller. Look at the endmost "point"of the pommel ie: skull crusher area and then draw a straight line from it to the "point" where the front of the handle starts as a straight edge. It's angle is smaller (or greater depending upon how you measure) than before and there is less metal handle covering the blade tip than before. The pommel curve begins to curve forward to meet the flat edge of the handle more quickly. I think this is why the 25 and Umnumzaan can bite fingertips. I'm not complaining. I just like trying to figure things out. I haven't used the knife yet as I've owned it for less than 2 hours. I haven't decided to catch and release or keep it yet. More to come. Lockup engagement is about 95%% as compared to the 60% on the 21 and maybe 30% on the Classic.

Oh yeah. Photos... Large Sebenza 25 with a Large Classic Bloodwood Inlay and a Large 21 Stainless Raindrop Damascus.

Tried to photo the curves on the pommel, but it's really hard to describe and hard to see unless you take two knives and hold them together and then rotate them around like a CAD mockup. The differences are subtle and pretty tough to notice unless you are looking or unless you jam you finger into the 25 and then into the 21 or Classic pommel. Anyhow, that's it for now...
