The second folder to exceed my expectations!

Yes folks I again want to admit that I have been very disapointed in most of the knives I have bought in the past 8 months. The first to exceed my expectations was the AR's that I got a few weeks ago. Today I got my Lone Wolf Harsey Tactical. This is what VALUE is all about.I cant say enough good things about this knife. It's BIG and fits my hand perfectly. They used S30V which is my favorite to date. The action is smooth as silk, the lockup is perfect and the price was more than reasonable. The liner seems as beefy as the AR.My friend and dealer made sure to pick one that was functionaly perfect. In my opinion this is the best value to come out in the past 3 years.Needless to say I ordered another one right away.
really nice knife. has all the materials, aesthetics, & features i like. it destroys the feminine-looking sebenza, and appears to be more functional in a combat sense as well.. i'll have to check it out. thx 4 the tipoff.

Just want to clarify, althought this knife is very Strider like there is no doubt Strider is by far superior in every way.

I knew it!!! :D

Please elaborate on this.

Since you feel Strider is a better knife, why not sell this new one for another Strider?

I'm wierd like that: I can't own less than the best. It bugs me. *shrug*

Well I've been carrying this for a few weeks and in no way is it a bad knife at all and the price is definately right but when I made reference to it being Striderish I just wanted to make it clear that in my opinion it is no AR. There is a large price difference between them and they are both worth every penny being asked. The AR's that I own are plain and simple the best in their field. These LW's are great for the money but in no way can I claim them to be the best in there field. I think Strider has a much higher knowledge of what a Tactical folder should be and it shows in their knives were LW has a long way to go.As for selling it for a better one, I own more knives than I can count and I want every knife in the world, the LW is a great knife and it really sets a new standard for quality at affordable prices.I always buy 2 or 3 of ALL knives I like be it $200.00 or $2,000. When I originaly was asked what knife would I compare it to I said it was very Striderish but when I thought about that I didn't want anyone to think I felt it was in any way the same quality as Strider but when you look at it you can easily see the Strider influence. Buy one and feel good about your purchase, I did!!!!!

In every way?

How about specifcs? I've owned 3 AR's, and honestly, the fit & finish was not that great.
Overall, the Strider folders are really pretty crude, for the most part.
Not saying that's good or bad, just that they are.

So, what exactly is it that makes Strider superior in every way?

masterchef - How thick is the blade?

Sorry about that.It's 1/4 inch

Holy Sh!t! That's one thick freakin' blade! Is it really a quarter inch thick? It looks great, but that sounds a little thick for a folder blade!

Anyone have a blade thickness comparison pic between this and some famous knife, say a Becker BK7 or something?

Well to answer a few questions when I say in every way I guess I mean in every functional way. I think the Striders are as you say crude as well but they are a no BS no frills knife. Nothing fancy just plain solid users. As for the 1/8 inch I believe it was taken from 1/8 inch stock, that was the thickest part of the blade. For $200.00 you get a hell of a knife with the LW and for $350.00 you get a hell of a knife with the Strider.

Holly crap you guys.I'm sorry I'm running around trying to do a hundred things and sometimes I'm as stupid as they get. It's 1/8 thick.I'm real sorry I wrote the wrong thing. It's hard to run a restaurant and pretened to know what your doing at the same time! Again Sorry folks! Mike

Hmmmm - what makes you say this? No one loves Strider more than I do (except maybe Mick), but I would throw my Harsey at anything I would use my NM GB on.

The lock up is as good on my Harsey as any folder I have seen. And it uses larger size (T8 and/or T10) Torx fasteners - a definite advantage over Strider, IMO.

Just my respectful opinion!!!

And I respect your respectful position! However, I have yet to think of a task that I would use my Striders for, that I would not use my Harsey for.

No problem man, just a simple mistake. Heck, I'm glad it's 1/8 thick! 1/4" is WAYYY too thick for a folder, and for most fixed blades. This does sound like a great knife! :D

Thanks for the pics and links to those high-rez closeups. I have always thought that Harsey has a good eye for clean, ergonomic, practical looking, useful knife designs.

That's a big knife. 4.75" blade, 5.90" closed.

Did the literature that came with it say how hard they run S30V and who does the heat treating?

Those big gnarly "traction grooves" underside-butt, and topside-thumb area... are those rough or are they decently radiused? Comfortable, or do they seem like they'd put a blister on ya' under hard and/or extended use?

How is the liner lock? Stout? Does it seem to stick into the tang well or is it kinda easy to disengage?

Also, if you don't mind me asking, exactly how much did you pay for the LW Harsey? And where?
