The Sgian Dubh

The OD canvas micarta one should be back to the shop soon, quick refresh and more photos.

I took my maple handles one in a boot (redwings) to a christmas party- I get asked too often to show examples. 4 hours at the party and I totally forgot it was there. good carry.

Sweet!

Ya Know, these might look really nice in denim laminate.

I might need one of those:cool:

Burlap micarta by Shadetree. This one is a stout puppy.

oh, old school faded brick red demin.... man. and carhartt tan, postal grey....

Here's a new one and a new sheath style.

This is going out in the mail tomorrow morning after Koyote Girl gets a rubdown on the leather with a burnishing rid and some waxes and oils (hence the grainy look right now)

The second sheath is LH in this case, has a retention strap and can be worn vertically or horizontally. the ricasso area of the handle fold the strap out of the way nicely when drawing. (The sock sheath is the traditional blade cover for kilt wearing)

And, of course, there's oil all over everything:

I think it came out okay :D

Some sheath details. The chicago screws aren't mounted on the removable belt hanger in the photos

update photos on the sheath. It's a winner for the belt design. horizontal or vertical carry and very secure but easy to draw.

I figure you'll have it ... oh, tomorrow or Thursday. :D

Mike- The new sheath design is due in part to you

Sierra says this is THE belt sheath design for the sgian dubh from here forward.

It is here :D:thumbup::Dand seems to be every thing I hoped
Carried vertically you forget it is there. All I have cut so far is . The hair on my arm, a few rose vines wittled a little and sliced up some foccocha bread (sp?) for a samwich I hope to give it a real trial this week end
Thanks Chistof

294. glad to hear it's all safe and sound. Do remember to lock the threads on the chicago screws - or check them once in a while :)

I just got in 2 bottles of 222ms loctite at the shop low strength for small screws some primer and a small dab in one area will keep it from vibrating loose but still be removable

I have decided to learn how to draw/paint landscape (I'm not very good) right now I draw or paint single trees, So some time this weekend I'm going to load up my daypack with a stove and tea stuff one of the smoked sausage gift packs some Johny Walker shortbread cookies. Find me an interesting tree, drink some tea slice up some smoke sausage and cheese with my sgian dubh and paint a tree :D

here's another one with the new sheath style- 7.75 OAL with a 4 inch blade and a "sierra sized" handle.

I have a black one ( S/D ) on order from Christof. I also have another on the way in 5160 . Both forged but each a bit different. I will put up a picture when they arrive.
