I went to the Badger Knife Show in Wisconsin earlier this year — my first knife show, actually — and these were the kinds of tables that were the most fun to pick through.Johnnythefox thanks for sharing, looks like a great show with lots of good stuff to look at!
I went to the Badger Knife Show in Wisconsin earlier this year — my first knife show, actually — and these were the kinds of tables that were the most fun to pick through. As someone who likes/appreciates vintage knives but isn’t that knowledgeable about them, getting to handle literally hundreds in person is priceless! So much better than the occasional traditional knife or two spotted at an antique shop or flea market.
It’s funny, at the Badger show, I had a keen eye out for any GEC tubes (and knives, of course), and I don’t think I saw that many in the whole show!
Really interesting to see Michael Morris there. That’s quite a trip! I wonder if he generally gets a lot of business from the UK with his small friction folders. They are nice, interesting knives (if a bit pricey for a friction folder).

The plot sickensWill Just for you
They had a box of the original originals in the Opinel museum in France when I visited some years ago, they where rightly not for sale but I did ask.
It was the first time I was made aware that the vibrolock was relatively new.
This is a lot firmer to close without it,of course by design
This is a very good remake,so many remakes are not faithful to the original this is.
Details are on the paper in the box.
I would love a No6 original I think that would then be UK legal.
I think there where some more loose in a box, but I was to out of energy and to out of money to look.
As far as I know these are long sold out.
Celebrating their 120th anniversary, Opinel Knives recreated the knife that made their brand world renowned. The Limited Edition No 8 Opinel Folding knife features a trailing point carbon steel blade, untreated cherry wood, and no Virobloc safety ring - just like its original 1890 predecessor. Sheath included. Comes with a certificate of authenticity.
Yep, it's a dead duck. New laws enacted. The plot sickens
An old no6 pre vibralock just came up on etsy it said 1960s.
I studied the pictures and I am quite sure its not just one with the lock clicked off (doable but not as firm a blade as the old un).
In other news Etsy is in some cases stopping us buying knives and knife slips on the site,a new policy which seems a bit random.
