I don't know how long I will stay a member, but we're going to give this one a whirl in the next few weeks.

Tknife,

Thanks, you'd think I would recognize a Ranger (being an RD7 lover)! Is it a RD4?

It's an Afghan. You can tell from the shape of the tip and the lack of the RD style "skullcrusher" pommel. Ranger Knives

Don why would not stay a member ? and I like the looks of that knife. I got to tell you I got to read about your dad on your site at least once a month being a former Marine
my self I really like your dads write up.
Take care Don,

Bryan

Welcome to the club!
An early Ranger tradition is making a PBJ sandwich and taking a picture of it with your new pry/spreader! :D

Hey everyone, I have not even looked at the steel they use at Ranger Knives. It is a five inch blade, 1 5/8" Wide and a 1/4" Thick. It's a tank!

Don why would not stay a member?

'Cause I have a Stanley Wonder Bar and the County Comm Collection for mundane tasks! :D

It is nice to not have to worry about it breaking, but I won't be using it as a prybar.

Might stay in The Club, might not. Right now I am rearranging everything for the family and I when it comes to gear and it's going to revolve around this, a few Ontario RAT Knives and my Wife has adopted the BM/Ritter Fixed Blade as she really likes that.

Bryan,

Thank you, that means a lot to me. I was contacted by a long-lost cousin a couple months ago and he ended up sending me a few letters that my Dad wrote his Aunt, this guy's Mother. I also received some new pictures I might sort through and post some of them on that page. Pretty cool stuff actually.

I wish there was one place in D.C. where I could go and look at the vast collection of WW2 pictures they have from Peleliu and Okinawa. He's in there. A friend of mine's Mom had a set of yearbooks, like you see with old sets of encyclopedias and the one that had 1944 on it, I offered her a paycheck for it! She wouldn't break the set and wouldn't sell me the set. There was a picture of an amphibious tractor heading into Peleliu and stenciled in white paint on the side was "Rearic." Too bad this was before scanners, I didn't even have a PC back then, this was about 15 years ago.

Got one off a forumite.

This particular example came with a very thick edge. I take a crock stick to it every night. Eventually, I hope to get it to the cutting stage.

I think it's 5160.

I have not done an ounce of research on the thing really. I got it on the strength of youse peoples recommendations. :D

OK, did a deal at the same time with a dude that sent me a RAT-3 with a "mustard" patina. I have not read the thread about "potato" patinas yet. What condiment or vegetable is responsible for the patina on your Ranger?
