Pretty sure I came across a rusted-out one of those at a semi-secret historic location in Acadia National Park where it serves as a placemarker of sorts. Also, Peavey uses that construction method on their telegraph shovels and spoons.

I've had this shovel for several years and there may even be a picture of it back through the tread, but I'll try to get a few fresh ones posted soon.
 
I have a Crovel. All steel Speznaz type shovel.sharpend edges. Kydex lined sheath that hold a gerber multi tool and a couple bic lighters.
