Being a girl from the flat lands of Ohio, I am extremely excited to be traveling the Smoky Mountains. :D I have a super sweet cabin rented. I need to plan what I will be doing during my vacation, any suggestions? Horseback riding and white water rafting are already on the agenda, and I am researching wine tasting at the winery now.

I wonder if I will should take my MBC? Too bad I don't have a Busse folder yet, I could just keep it in the pocket of my daisy dukes when I go hiking. :grumpy:

Tips? Have a safe yet fun trip.
Take pictures, we would all love to see the local scenery or maybe a good sunrise/sunset view.
Be careful not to fall in love with the mountains or going back to the flatlands may be near impossible. :p

You could always get one of Dave's pocket sheaths for your MBC if you need to pocket carry. ;) Otherwise horizontal belt carry works great, I'll have -TNT- post a pic of hers.

Tips? Other than take lots of pics... Walk quietly, and carry a .45 with your MBC :)

Enjoy Lexi, we're 45 minutes from the Smokies. It's beautiful this time of year, even if it is a little humid. Have a great time.

Sounds like it's going to be a great time, and a well deserved break! And definitely take your MBC...maybe snap a pic so we can see how well an MBC fits into daisy duke pockets - you know, for my uh, err...girlfriend...yeah that's it!

You can borrow my custom shop MBC if needed since I wont have funds for another week or two ;)

    Have an awesome trip!

Sneak into the R&D department, and grab the INFI folder and the NMFSH and get us some action shots... oh, and make sure you don't forget the bacon!

The smokey's are a great place. Lot's of things to see there.

Be mindful of the wildlife, I've seen black bears tear up cars looking for food, and I've seen idiots try to get up close to a mom and her cubs because they look so cute. It's in the wild, and people have this false sense of security. There are no rangers there to save you from an attack so respect nature.

If you go up to the overlook tower, mind the sign that warns you about the last 1/4 mile walk. At that elevation you'd be surprised at how many people have to sit on the many benches along the way to get a breather.

You'll no doubt know why they call them the smokey mountains on your first morning. Enjoy!

    Edit to add:

I stayed in Knoxville, not sure where your going to be but close by were some caverns to explore with guides. It was fun. Also we made a trip to Jack Daniels distillery, that was also fun and while I was there someone had set up a gold panning site, I believe it was just for show as surely the gold has been panned out.

I would highly recommend taking at least a couple hikes while you're there. I'll second the notion about avoiding bears, don't leave any food or waste around your cabin.... If you do happen to get in close with a bear, pepper spray is usually your best option if it comes to that. A guided fishing trip would be great this time of year. As tempting as it is to hang around the cabin, get out as much as you can and enjoy your surroundings!

Take your time and don't rush things. Sometimes vacations can be ruined by trying to rush from one activity to the next. There are times when it's better to just sit and relax with good company then to be checking up on technology or running around like crazy. Enjoy the peace and quiet :)
