Just Wondering if anyone else does or has done this?

So after sleeping 3 nights at Ethan's in my hammock, I decided to try it at home. So last week I installed an indoor hanging kit in my house and have slept the last five nights in a row in my hammock. I actually get a good night sleep and seem to have no back or neck problems when I wake up like I do in a bed.

My hammock is the smallest one ENO makes,(Pro Nest) so I decided to order the DN and see how much better that is. Also I will now be able to take the wife Hammock camping since I will have two.

Anyway, I think I may be done with beds forever. And coolest thing is you can unhook one side when you wake up and have no wasted space in the room during the day.

I've been looking at ENO for an alternative for a tent.
Makes me wonder if I should switch.

OOOOO, I'd like a BK9 with a white BK2 inside it ifffff you're feeling fancy, or just the BK9 since she's my queen.

Pleaseeeee and thank you warrior!

Here ya go man. Sorry it took so long, haha:

when ever i go camping in the summer and early fall i always use my eno, i also have a hennessy hex tarp that i string up over it and i absolutely love it

i love my double nest dex, i use it every chance i get

Yea I'm not a big guy and when I got my hammock a year or so ago, I went with the smaller one to save on weight and also didn't think I needed the large one. It has been great and is super easy to set-up and fits nicely in my pack.

But the more I research the more I think the DN will better and more comfortable for everyday and places where Weight is not a problem. Can't wait to try it.

Do you use the ENO straps? That's what I have now but just ordered some amsteel to make some whoopie slings. So many options when it comes to Hammocks.

I can tell you that I will never go back to a tent. Especially here in Texas where the ground is just covered with large rocks and it is almost impossible to find a flat piece of ground.
Also the bugs and critters all over the ground.

You will not be disappointed for sure. Just research a lot before you buy. There are many many options.

Just need to prepare for the colder months tho. Then you will need under quilts and such.

right now i have the eno slap strap pro but on the last outing i used them one of the loops ripped off so now i'm looking for some new straps, i like the look of the atlas straps but haven't decided yet

Wow! It ripped off? Were there any signs of wear or did it just fail all at once? That's the straps that I have now. I have been pretty happy with them. The atlas ones look really nice.
My next set will be some that I make myself tho. Now that I know how it is supposed to work, I want to try my hand at some.

i have had the straps for about 2 or 3 years now and have not had a problem until my last trip a few weeks ago, the day it happened i had already been in and out of the hammock a few time and then i went to go to sleep and i sat down in it to take of my boot and it just fell

Dex keep in mind whoopie slings can slip. Mine had a bad habit of doing so when it was cold.

That really sucks man. At least it didn't fail when you were sleeping. I think that would have sucked even more. lol

Really? Hum..... I was wondering about that. I will try it out and maybe make the buried part a few more inches than recommended. And do you know what material yours was made of?

Haha, I actually used to sleep on the floor back in the day because of back problems. People would come over and wonder where my bed was.
Your dog must be like mine cause mine get's upset too. Puts her head over and licks me in the face. She has been sleeping under the hammock most of the night tho.

And I'm guessing the ENO helps with your back? From what I have read, seems like lot's of people are sleeping in hammocks due to back issues.

MM,

You better be with someone who knows about the various flora and fauna in your area, like your dad, an outdoors kinda person, botanist, etc. If you're trying to eat all this crap by reading a book, you're gonna end up like Chris McCandless. That is to say, dead. He thought he could figure out plants from a book, too.

Not telling you what to do, that's your dad's job, but you are playing a dangerous game. I would say this same thing to any of the Scouts in my troop.

Doc

one of those things a lot of plant guides and edibles collectory books don't tell you:

wash that shit off, by which i mean literally, nature has been pissing and crapping on those plants - birds, deer, rodents, snakes, snails, and more! then wash it some more (maybe in strong vinegar too). typically you have to cook most of it, and you should change the water as well (important for tannins and many other near toxins), some things like nettles need a LOT of cooking. you'll also be killing any parasites and potentially bad things. speaking of parasites, never eat insects without cooking them. some of those nature shows have people doing that, but you don't hear about the near fatal intentestinal parasite some guy got, or the guinea worm boring out of his ass, or the 24 cm worm in his eye ;) there's a reason people don't get sick on commercial food as much as wild - we have inspectors and a mostly clean food supply (mostly).

another thing they don't usually mention in as robust detail as they could - the older the plant, the less likely it's good for you. a lot of those bad boys develop extra protections, toxins, flavors, and more (like just being super tough). they lose nutrition for you, and some of them can even block nutrition uptake. great way to die - starving with plenty of food :P japanese knotweed? delicious for those first few days of growth. after that? shit city. acorns? they're good at a certain age. too green? maybe. too old? not so much. that's one you have to boil and boil and boil and boil and change the water a lot. worth it? sure, if you're weird or are homesteading for any food. nettles? not worth it :> well, unless you're starving.

jack in the pulpit, there's a taste long remembered but not as long as lily of the valley ;P

I considered getting one of those yard hammocks with a frame to use inside instead of a bed. The only reason I didn't was that they were $140 and that seemed like an expensive experiment. I don't like to sleep on my back anyway but last time I was in a hammock I didn't have any trouble taking a nap.

I get a little inebriated and nap in the hammock at my in-laws place all the time! I've never done a full night in one, but I'd be down for trying. I should set up some heavy hangers in the basement and find me a hammock.

Hey folks. This is going to be our first time at Blade and I was wondering if any of you repeat offenders had any advice. Tankerwolf has been very helpful. Just wondering if anyone else wants to share any tips.
