Todd, I have a hoodie for you. You will either love it or I will keep it and pay you back later.

Gus - best advice i can think of is to bring twice as much cash as you think you'll need and leave the checkbook & credit cards behind.

Todd -- sent you phone numbers. Also, I can handle a needle and thread if you need me to sew sheaths together in the booth.

on an unrelated note - this is what I spent my day making:
slat bed that fits a queen sized mattress - inside corners are reinforced with 4" steel hinges for easy take-down, legs are pinned in place with antler tips driven through partially occluded 1/2" holes.

chest is 18"tall, 13 1/2" wide, and 36" long - held together with cut nails and glue. "Hinges" are leather scraps held on with contact cement and then sewn with a harness stitch.

chest needs a second coat of poly, bed needs the legs trued up, edges relieved/rounded, then stain and seal.
thinking about doing a coffee or sumac stain, but will most likely end up coating it with the same stain as the chest.

thanks for looking.

Speaking of Blade. Among the knife work I've done today due to being behind, on my "break time" ive been sowing sheaths. 9 so far tonight. 4 of my fingers are bleeding out of all of the joints. SUCKS! :grumpy:
So much for that 3.75 sheaths per day eh? :) You need some of those metal thimbles to protect your fingers! Just keep telling yourself "4 more days!"

Holy CRAP dude that is awesome! Also how TALL are those legs on that bed?! They look to be about 18"

Nice box vik!
Not the first time Erik has heard that!

Ruby (the kid's black lab) carried this up out of the woods and gently set it down on the porch. Yep, there's a new family member.

Is that for real trade??? Thats just WILD!!!

What will you do with it? treat it like a dog? Is it going to be a house deer??? LMAO

yup - 18" to the bottom of the siderails -- the buddy I'm building it for wanted to be able to store rough-totes underneath.

New family member / potential future dinner?

I'm no deer expert, but that thing is like what? days old? break out those baby bottles!

Of course you explained to the girls how tender that backstrap will be.

new ultimate in culinary decadence.
SWMBO bought a 6-pack of those giant muffins they sell at the wholesale club.
for some reason she bought the double chocolate ones -- then was surprised when I didn't eat them for breakfast.
when she complained at me that I wasn't eating them, I chopped the last 2 up (she ate 3, I ate the one she handed me) AND USED THEM TO MAKE BREAD PUDDING!
Sorry, no pics -- but if we had any peanut butter left in the house, I'd have used it to make a PB cream cheese frosting.

Damn, that sounds rough bud. just hope you guys have an excellent time, and all the work you did preparing is paid off while your there!!

Thanks WW. Fact of the matter is, the difference between last year and this year is I will actually be working. Knife play isnt for fun anymore. I just quite my job of 20 years, and im heading to Florida after the blade show for a week. So, Lol, im hoping on clearing the trip to be able to get home after the the week and a half. I say Lol, cause ive learned over the last 10 years of my life the less serious I take myself, the more relaxed I am. But, when the laughs stop, reality is, Im not self employed. No big deal, a lot of people are, just gotta find my grove.

Im anxious to see it JT.

VIK, I will be in touch with you soon about details and such, as far a stitching sheaths, thanks, but the thought of pulling out of my driveway to head to Blade with work to still be done is a worry I dont want to have to deal with.

Cbear, its not that the 3.75 sheaths a night was a bad plan, but remember, thats just sheaths, still got knives im working on. Shit is crazy here. 50 knives to leave for Ga. In 4 days not done, close, but not done. Its easy to forget about sheaths.

I had a buddy in New York (not upstate but not the city either) who had a pet deer. He raised it no problem. It wasn't a "house pet" but it stayed in the yard.

TBL, it's a deer NOT a hog!

Erik, not a bad guess for not having a reference point! Damn nice work man! DAMN NICE!

Oh, I understand I was wondering how long that 3.75 average was gonna last. Sorry I'm not closer or I'd come and help.
