Wife ordered this flint striker for me this evening, for Father's Day. Won't be here for Father's Day, but can't wait to get it. Unique:

Definitely unique, but cool too. I dig it.
Thanks man. Supposedly, it's a 16th Century Russian reproduction striker. Got that info from BCUSA, but couldn't find anything anywhere else on it.

I'm rather fond of historical stuff. Would be cool to see the original it was based on.

Sure would. I tried googling, with no success. This one was purchased from Russia, that we ordered.

Wife and I drove up from Texas to visit her family and mine in a couple different small towns in south and west central Ohio. Been in Texas for 30 years. Man I miss how green everything is... and cool nights with a window open. Gonna get together today at a farm pond and wet a line. Good times.

Home sweet home.

Father's Day came early with the Traeger. Zima being reintroduced is just icing on the cake. Haha!!

you actually like that malted sprite stuff?
you should try occulto.

Zima, dear FSM... spiked 7-Up is exactly what it tastes like. I recall juggling a trio of empty bottles in college. they're pretty good for that. Happy to say I wasn't the one who emptied them.

On Father's Day I find myself reflecting on great wisdom my dad shared with me. Things like...

Don't spit into the wind.

Ughh...
I feel a little rough after that 6 pack of Zima. Lol
I don't remember it being so sweet. Tasted really syrupey.
Zima's new slogan: Zima- The Snark Slayer!

Anyway...heading over to my Father in Law's for a BBQ. Dueling smokers. I'm doing St. Louis style 3-2-1 ribs. Can't wait!

Need pics of the dueling smokers and the smoked products.

More on the septic tank saga.

I hate septic problems, ZZ.

I had drains backing up last winter, went to check my tank, and learned that my house didn't have a tank. What I had thought was the tank was an old hand dug well that previous owners had ran the sewage pipe into. So, obviously, I had to install a proper septic tank and absorption lines. Luckily, I'm a soil scientist and have a license to install septic systems in Missouri, so could do much of the work myself. I just had to hire a backhoe operator.

In your case, check the slope of the pipe running from the house to the tank. There should only be a slight amount of fall. If it's too steep, the water will outrun the solids. Around here, the standard is something like 2 inches of fall over 10 feet, or a quarter bubble on a level.
