I saw this today but I don't think it applies to this thread.

Been a great week in San Francisco. The Rock was a real highlight. Moses Bowie has been sitting so lonely in the car trunk.... Only been using my pocket knife. Still tomorrow in LA if we get some fishing in.

Oh yeah, and lotsa chiggers. Yay.

you need some of SWMBO's herbal bug dope.
on the hike yesterday one of the guys was complaining about all the ticks - as he was spraying it on his pants the ticks were jumping off.

I need something. I used to spray, but got them whether I did or not, so now I just don't. Wife sprayed herself down, and still got them.

I'll see if she has any ideas specific to chiggers -- what she currently makes works well on ticks & skeeters.
I spray my boots and the bottom 6" of my pants (inside and out) with permethrin, which seems to work pretty well.

hey, all y'all using photobucket third party images in your sigs, please be aware that they show up as a large, empty, photobucket advertisements now. you might want to look into that :D

Back in the ancient of days, we used to put a cap or two of bleach in a sink and washed down every possible at risk part with it. Worked pretty good. But those were 20th century chiggers. I don't know a lot about 21st century ones. Or northern ones.

I've read all sorts of remedies, i.e, clear fingernail polish, which they say is bunk, mixing salt and mentholatum, etc. Nothing really seems to work. Best thing I've found so far, for the ones on your ankles, is to keep socks on all the time until they fall off. Except for taking a shower, I keep them on all the time. Itches way less. This time, they're mostly on my ankle area, but some have made it up my leg. Luckily, those don't seem to itch too bad...yet.

I uploaded a set of photos to an album using Imgur. Can't say I like it too much. There's no sorting by filename, etc. You can sort them by dragging them when you're through, but damn, when there's lots of photos, that's a joke.

Chiggers suck. I got them all over my legs one day at work and damn near drove myself crazy with all the itching.

Rubbing alcohol helps if you catch them soon enough and don't mind the sting.

Also found this stuff at Dollar General, and it really helps with the itching. Stinks though.

I'll have to look for the that Technu Itch & Pain stuff. They make an incredible Oak & Ivy lotion that my wife swears by for poison ivy. (Fortunately I haven't yet shown to be sensitive to it.)

Man... I can't remember the last time I checked in here. Been so busy with classes and other other college related activities I almost forgot about it. Anyways, I think I'm mostly caught up around here
