I lucked out and got a perfect set. I have seen some that were pretty rough....was a tad concerned about it. I do love the color of the factory micarta.
Nice, hows the texture on them? BK micarta is pretty rough right?
I never really wanted to get any since 40 is a little steep for me (Bit of a cheap ass, I prefer the term "bargin shopper" haha) so I looked at every damn store to see if I could find a sheet of micarta that matched the factory color. "OD green" is a pretty good match.
The texture on mine isn't very rough. It's not ''polished G10'' smooth, but it aint sandpaper. Actually about the perfect level of grippy without roughing up the hand.
I bought these with one knife in mind....the 2 was just the closest to hand, but I just swapped them to the King...and that's where they will stay.
It's kinda amazing how all the Becker models are ''the same'', handle-wise, but the thicknesses of the different models make choosing scales for each very different. I LOVE the grivory on the 7, it just feels right. And the 2 is a tad thick for me, so FAL'ers slightly thinner wood scales are a perfect match for it, and I really like the micarta on the 9, but the micarta felt a lil blocky and too handle-heavy on my Gen1 BK2.
that's why I like to experiment and change things around...fine-tune each blade to my preference.
Sittling at a zoo right now. Jesus its hot here...
Ok, I understand the whole "waiting 1 minute between posts" that is part of the forum. However if you're posting in different threads, I don't think that you should have to wait a minute. Sometimes you can just run through and make all your comments and be done. I just got forumowned 2 times in a row.![]()
damn nice Dubz. I have handled the Nessy, so I know I like it, that HB has been drawing my eye for awhile now. The hammered version is just awesome. Whats the thickness on the HB? Is it as thick as the 9? Or more like a 7?
The grinds are good. There is one little "wavy" spot on the edge of the HB. Got them at the big river. Thanks Dubya.
That HB would be perfect if someone was into Trapper Rendezvous, or just traditional dress. It is heavier then I thought, lots of girth to it. It looks pretty close to same thickness as the Niner... and it's very tall. I was assuming it was thinner stock.
Your grinds look nice and even on both knives too. Where did ya buy from?
Got some new toys in today. Condor Hudson Bay, and Nessmuk. Really like both of them a lot.
