i will for sure as soon as my preferred dealer gets them in. Really dig my Southfork and this might be even better for my uses

On my short list as soon as I can free up the money... Sprig, GB2, Mantra, and a Survive GSO-10 are all I've seen so far that are personal must-haves for 2016.

Here it is...I like it!

Feels great in hand, like the sheath and it has more blade than I thought. As I use it, I'll post more.

It's listed as .12 stock and tapers down to a fine point. Has a small amount of flex to it...I can't measure thickness behind the edge but strikes me as quite thin.

I'll be posting more pics.

Mine came in at 5:48 yesterday and was able to use it today. This is a special knife. Thick at the spine but thin behind the edge and with the distal taper........danger warning :D When folks use this one they're not going to believe it. Hope the edge maintains. I would say that Sal and Phil have outdone themselves, but that seems commonplace for them. I think this knife was or could have been used in a recently released movie. :p I'd stand in line for the knife......not the movie. Thank you Sal and Phil, perhaps my new overall favorite Spydie. Time and use will tell. This one may become a classic.

I've been waiting for pics and reviews. I 'm looking forward to ordering one of these. I just need to check over finances and make sure Christmas didnt put me back.

Cuts like a dream! I will add that I like the handle a lot...I was worried it would feel to small/narrow in hand but it's great.

To get an idea of the taper...that's an Emerson CQC Mini 15 next to it at 1/8" thick...

Thanks for all the info and pictures. I think this would be an excellent all around deer knife good for both field dressing and skinning/boning.

Normally I would have used a longer knife to carve a rib roast, yesterday the Sprig worked great. Like a hot knife in butter. Can't wait to clean a cooler full of crappie. Curious to see how many I can get thru without touching up the blade? Trout, redfish, and flounder will also do, though a longer blade may be needed for skinning. Some serious Spyderco! :D

I just got mine today. The handle looks similar to the southfork, but feels much better in my hand. The sprig feels like a nice minimalist design with a proper four finger handle that you can choke up on at the choil.
I am going to use mine as a kitchen paring/utility knife.

This thread has me drooling!

Do any of you actually use that small choil?

I also really like how that Sprig Boltaron sheath is the fold-over style, instead of rivets all around sandwiching 2 pieces, making a larger footprint. (Is the Southfork sheath a similar fold construction sheath??)

Haven't had need for the choil as yet, but in addition to the index finger for precision cutting, I could see where the knife might be flipped over and the choil used by the thumb if gutting fish or splitting a bird or other small game. The sheath's are identical in design, though my Sprig fits a bit tighter.

I have a bunch-o Spydies (yes I'm a Spydaholic :o)and this for me is one of, if not the absolute best. I'm a sucker for B&T's and have a couple custom's (wish I had one of Phil's, I have his Shelter Cove). With the limited use thus far, I prefer this B&T over the custom's. Not sure how the edge will hold up, but will find out, hopefully this week. As folks start to see how good this knife is, it may become difficult to find. Imo it is destined to become a Spyderco classic. Again, my thanks to Sal and Phil for making this knife available.

Thought some in hand shots would be helpful...

Using the choil...

I want to add that the sheath fit is great. Perfect retention and not a rattle to be heard.

Good stuff!

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Due to your input here, my bank account will have to maximize it's output! :p

rpn, your photos are really making this thread enjoyable!

I have always wanted a Southfork, but couldn't afford one, or atleast justify affording one yet. But the Sprig may appeal to me even more!

Glad the thread has been helpful for you.

Have another thing to add- was using it again in the kitchen last night and got the handle wet and it still felt secure in hand.

Maybe my last update for this thread...unless I manage to do a little fishing...and catching! Bad pic, but I used it on a pork shoulder this AM and I'll tell you, best knife I ever cut one up with. Used a new Emerson first off this morning and it was a fantastic cutter- then I used the Sprig...wow!! Just a scalpel! It was a pleasure to use and even with all the fat, my grip was secure.
