That's dumb. Taiwan made Spyderco knives are superb quality.
I wouldn't say dumb; I want to support USA labor . . . Spyderco is right up the freeway from me (well a hunert miles or less but anyway) . . .

This definitely ^^^^^
I am glad I finally took the time to search out this thread (something about the Sprig) being rather sheltered here in my bunker

I had only heard of it recently. The blade said buyme, Buyme, BUYME ! ,BUYME NOW !
The handle said "uuuuuummmmmm".
over all I feel I was not as far off EDCing this every day for a decade as I thought once I started looking at more robust work knives .
Still I have been on a quest for better steel for some time and what I believe that I "NEED" as a more hand friendly and versatile handle.
So I said no to the Sprig and bought the Cold Steel Pendleton Hunter and made it thin : 2.2mm (.087 inch) at the spine and .5mm (.019) behind the edge or a bit thinner now.
The 5mm allen wrench is a tad thicker but gives an idea of where I started.
So what I'm asking is and what I feared away from the Sprig for is . . . don't you wish it had that sculpted indent between the front of the handle and the blade and maybe the more pronounced finger guard ? I would even be up for filing that into the handle but it is already quite thin there.
The sculpting I am attempting to show here
and here
Sounds like there is enough traction when wet and the larger rear keeps from dropping the knife when held point down.
Does any one wish it had some texturing on the handle ? Think stock ny. Griptillian handle.
It is probably just a matter of time before I get a Sprig because it really does have a superior blade and that is what it is about . . .
