The Spyderco Drunken: Amazing knife, Ruined by its Pocket Clip Fixed with a pair of pliers

The above web comment pretty well says the Spyderco Drunken miss's the mark as a useful quality knife, costing over $400 dollars.
It's sad that Les and his Spyderco Company has such a failure as the Dunken.

I love a good web comment as much as the next guy, but that's one very poorly thought-out review/hissy fit. I've had mine for a year now and can say with certainty that not one of the criticisms in that review has any basis in reality, except that the pocket clip could be improved, that one's fair. But hey, whatever floats your boat. Best thing about the internet, you can always find something you want to hear somewhere.

BTW...you don't seem to actually know who owns Spyderco.

Love my Drunken. Will never let it go. Someday, if can find one, I will get better clip, but it in no way detracts from the design of the knife itself. Cuts great, smoother than glass, thin and lite in pocket and gorgeous details. I am happy to remove lip and carry in CRK slip.

What does your experience with the Drunken in hand tell you? We can all read others opinions or watch fancy-pants YouTube videos, but nothing works as well to form an opinion other than personal experience.

Well Amazon only has the 0456 at a 4.3 rating so now I have no idea what to believe.

Not sure but Google has the same result.

Juat saying that neither knife is twice the other. Price on the other hand puts the ZT ahead.

I dig both companies.

Depending on what you value in a knife. Simple as that. How a few random people rate them on websites tells you exactly nothing.

Try owning and using them both and then get back to us, ok?

I own a 456cf, and handled a drunken the other day. I use my 456cf, and I love it. It's built well, is solid, and even though it's a sprint run I'm not worried about using it. A drunken on the other hand... It was so smooth, beautifully built, and just felt great all around. And I'd probably never use it, so I decided I'd never buy one, at least not at new price. If I found a user for half price or less? Hell yea I'd use it. But the 456 works for the same tasks. Chunkier and a bit heavier, but I can live with it. At least the CF is under 5 oz!

Maybe one day. Maybe if spyderco put out a more affordable version. I'll just admire it from afar for now.

just stating it's not twice the knife at almost twice the price. Ok ?

Maybe if I color coordinate the Drunken with bling....

I realize what you’re stating over and over. You just happen to be mistaken and your assertion has no basis in actual experience with the knives in question. That’s why I don’t take your assertion seriously.

And actually both color coordinate equally well with bling. On that they’re equals.

Drunken cuts better. Like, twice as good.
