The Spydie Addiction Begins...

My name is Jason and I am now a Spyderco addict..
What are your favorite spydies you've owned? I'm in the market for another Spyderco!
hiya jason!
still luv the ss police
there're spydies in every size, shape and color.
there's plenty of catching up to do
best hurry and knock yourself out!
how about your namesake?

Jason, you're skrewed, but it will be fun. Take your time and read a lot. Think about all the qualities you want in a knife, because there is plenty of Spydie variety. There are not too many of them that people don't like. Also consider looking at the older models as well.

I like to try a bit of everything now and then and Spydie's were one of them. I'm somewhat frugal especially with changes to a new maker. My first was the Native. Then came the Endura, Delica and anther Native. I use the Delica as my standard reference in terms of choosing a size that I am comfortable carrying and using. I don't like pocket swords and the Endura felt like that often. I have two Enduras. My "gentleman's" spydie is a Kiwi 2 which I like. I prefer fairly simple knives overall these days.

All that said, I have gradually shifted to more traditional knives for regular carry and use. Even though I like the Spydies, I haven't carried one in over a year. Basically, things change and they will for you too if you like knives. I know that I would like the PM3. But I am resisting that urge. Have fun with your knife adventure.

You really can’t go wrong with owning a Spyderco. They cut, and they do it well. I agree that the PM2 and para 3 models are worth checking out, as well as the native.
I’ve often said that if I had to sell my entire knife collection, my PM2 would be the last knife left. There are plenty of reasons for that.

I really like the ball-bearing lock, which is pretty much confined to the Manix series these days. Really strong, fully ambidextrous, and great action.

I would go with a Delica or Endura depending on your size preference. Eventually, you will want a PM2, but you already have the Tenacious which has a similar form factor.

Keep in mind the back lock knives do not open as nicely as the Tenacious does.

Also, take a look at the different locks offered by Spyderco and go from there. There are several knives available in each lock style.

Bought my first in '06 - a laminated Caly 3. I am up to around 60. Favorites are the Endura, Para 1/2, Military, Stretch, Manix and the various Caly models. Seriously looking at the Subvert right now. Best thing about Spyderco is the diversity of models and blade steels. That being said, I do have favorites - mainly the Military. So many fun models to acquire. Love the Ayoob, Lil Temp, Nilakka, Captain, etc. Great knives - fantastic company. I am in sales and am a firm believer that the customer goes where he/she is made to feel welcome. Spyderco does a great job of that.

Jason - I noticed that you just joined. A word of advice - for Gods sake, stay away from the custom makers sale forums. And the Axe forum too! Your bank account is going to be hard pressed by Spyderco acquisitions, I hate to tell you what will happen if you start checking out some of the other parts of the forum.

I’m right there with you. I hated the way Spydercos looked for awhile. Took the dive and bought a G10 Para 3 and am now hooked. Bought a Manix 2 and I haven’t even had the Para 3 a week yet haha. Thinking about getting a LW Tenacious to see how I like the FRN.

My first Spyderco was a Manix and the Manix is still my favorite. I'm also a fan of the Dragonfly as a small knife. Plus, something from the Salt series is a must have IMO.

Honestly though, buy whatever model calls to you. With Spyderco I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I bought my first Spyderco in the early 90s at a Military BX. It was so light, and futuristic. The 'Spyder Edge' looked viscous, and cut like a razor-saw.
I couldn't understand why Spyderco would put a plastic (Bic pen) pocket clip on a nasty, fully serrated knife.

I have had a "knife problem" since 2010, and Spyderco is definitely a big part of the problem. They had/have lots of offerings in my favorite price range: $50-$100.
My 'value knife' favorites:
Ambitious, Cara Cara, Centofante, Delica, Dragonfly Frn, Dragonfly G-10, Endura, LW Manix, Manix G-10, Manix XL (used to be $90s), Matriarch 2, Native S35v Frn, Pacific Salt (used to be $70s), Paramilitary (used to be $90s), Para 3 Frn, Persistence, Police SS (used to be $90s), Resilience, Sage 1 ( used to be $105), Stretch (used to be $70s),Tenacious.

Yes, by all means, get a Sharpmaker.
Is that a yes for real? I was thinking about it. But I bought a cheap turn box that hasn’t arrived yet. Gonna see if it fits my needs. If not I think I can spend the money for a sharpmaker. I have no issue spending it to get more knives haha.

Absolutely yes! Money well spent.

Well I’ve bought 3 Spydies in just 2 weeks. Got a Para 3 before it arrived I ordered a Manix 2. Now I haven’t even got the Manix and I ordered a Yojimbo. Think I’m good for a few months.
