The Steel Is In!

Acn anyone tell me if there is any left and how much it is a foot, stick or however the 1084 is priced? I'd sure like to have some myself.

tia,
Steve

Steve, it comes in a 3' stick but you pay by the pound. It's fun watching Aldo comparing the prices of bars and doing the math... ever seen Rainman? Now imagine Dustin Hoffman as a gravelly voiced plumber from New Joisey. :) Aldo is onehelluvaguy though.

To All Concerned:

After exhausting every possibility it seems that the best we'll be able to do with 52100 flat bar brings the per pound price to between $12.00 and $13.00.

This would be the cost if I buy 3 - 255 lbs sheets and had them cut to size. I would need to have it 75% sold for me to consider the order.I can't imagine there are many of you who would want to pursue it at that cost.

Hey Aldo,

You're right for me anyway. As much as I'd like some flat stock like that it's just beyond my means and expertise to justify purchasing. I did find some 1" roller steel in 52100 for less than $3/lb and picked some of that up, but hell if I can beat it into submission by hand. I offered it up here a while back, http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=559901, but it was a complete bust.

I do need to get some 1084 from you. Stacy sent some over to Hawaii fro me with Mike Keeney (came here to do a desalination plant install on a ship). I need to have you send some to Stacy to replace his. Mike hasn't been over yet, so I don't know the exact bar count. I believe it's either 5 or 6 bars.

So I'll finally be able to beat the snot out of some of your steel (actually I did get a few pieces from Indian George last summer).

All the best, Phil
