That looks like crinkle finish black paint. I provides a grippy surface compared to high gloss paint.

Yes, non slip surface from Buck. Feels good in hand.

Happy Sunday to all, hope you enjoy a safe day and watch a little Football! Thank you Armand for the GSOE each week.

Here a few Dukes

JB

Can you tell me the type of wood they used for the one the top? Really nice.

Hi BuckShack,

The wood on that Duke 500 is quality Ironwood. The higher quality Ironwood has an iridescent look in the grain. It's hard to get good pictures of the stuff to show that in the wood. It looks 100 times better in your hand than in the photo.

Thanks JB, that is special stuff. I can only imagine how nice it is in person.

Great show everybody... I want to thank everybody for taking the time to share a knife or knives with all of us here on the SPS... Thanks

I hope you guys ain't getting tired of sharing... I really enjoy seeing everybody's knives... I like users, broken knives, fancy knives, thousand-dollar knives, custom knives, home projects... It's all good... I have seen so many awesome knives since I've started this show... I hope everybody feels the same...

Again I thank you all...

:)

JB, that Ironwood knife is absolutely beautiful... I know you like gnarly stag like me but that Ironwood is sweet I'm so glad I have a few knives with Ironwood... I also like KOA wood, ivory, Crosscut ivory handles, Pearl and so on...Thanks

:)

Armand. ...you like every Buck you have! I bet you felt the same way with some of the other 'toys' you collected in the past. There is something to be said about Buck knives tho...No matter how long you collect Buck has brought to market so very many types and styles of knives there is always a surprise in any bag of them. I do see long time collectors move to early Custom Shop or high end big blade Bucks. I still get a real kick out of finding just odd 112's. I knew that as the years went by I would never be able to buy many really expensive 112's just because I'm not wealthy and I get excited finding a build out or oddball advertising 112 with odd features like a all option finger grooved ,Lazer engraved wood, pad print blade with bolster engraved 112 I got on ebay for. ... $32.00.
