The Sunday Picture Show... (1-26-2014)

The second is this double-dash 110, with some very unique scales. Kind of ivory macassar. If anyone knows what they are I'd welcome the info.

Actually, I may have that wrong. On many woods the heartwood is darker and the outer wood is lighter. Here is a picture of planks of Macassar Ebony:




I'm not sure how the planks are cut in relation to the log. This could be the normal pattern throughout. Interesting subject, though. :)

Macassar ebony can run anywhere from tan to almost all black in color, with streaks of brown and dark brown/black being pretty common. One like yours is very special, to some of us anyways, because it has one extreme end of the spectrum exemplified.
