The Sunday Picture Show... (11-7-2010)

Hi All,

Wow great photo's, keep them coming!

As there have been a few Mentor's posted this week I felt it fitting to post these. The deer cut out has Sambar stag, the Elk cut out has sun bleached Elk stag. I've been looking for a third 475 stag to add to the bunch, very elusive and hard to find so far.

I'll also drop the new photo of the BCCI S30V DP with FG stag, I had to move it for the above photo's. It is currently sitting in the display stand where the elusive mentor will go some day;).

More beautiful knives guys! I love the stag and antler JB ;)
Dave have you had that model 94 since 78?
Nice little lever gun!! Got all the matching Bucks to go with it? :D thats a beautiful 103 as well!!!

There have been a couple of conversations of late concerning the whole Yellow 300 "Who made'em issue." In the end I will make an educated guess but it would take Joe and one of his famous research checks to know file details.

The question was: "Who made Yellow scaled 300s". For those that care, go with this as the rule. 301,303,309 and 305 after 1985 (date stamped) were made by Buck. All others made by Camillus. Part of the first photo are copies of SMKWs catalogs from the 80's that show all those yellows as exclusively offered by them. Once the numerous SMKWs contracts were done the leftover extras may have been sold by makers ?, who knows...... Darn you didn't keep your SMKWs catalogs just like I didn't, you watch they are going to have Bay value soon.

Catalogs copies from 87,88 and 89. Notice the Buck Four on the left are date stamped 1987, but shield is K,B, and Hammer. Bet the Buck shield
didn't mesh well with yellow production methods. (Rub Off)... Congress 322 on top, 307, 313 and 329 on bottom. Everybody has brass liners.

Here is close-up of one of the 'Proto-type" yellows (301 Stockman), tang stamped 1987. If the hype of the catalog is true that may be the rarest 300 I own. One of 21. I probably paid about as much for that one as SMKWs sold the set in 87. Note: The steel test dot on the tang.
YellowQuestionB.jpg

So leave with the idea that all Yellow 300s were exclusive to SMKWs, only the standard Four were made by Buck, any other models were made by Camillus...Till the new ones came out last year............
Ok, Armand go find one of the 15 sets........they have to have BUCK on the shield.

I got the '94 in 2004 when my wife's Dad passed away. It was given to him by his co-workers when he retired. It's never been fired and I probably won't.

Here's another new one for me, one of the Classic series. The 510.

@Plumberdv - I love those guitar knives being a guitar man myself...looks awesome in your photos!

@topol - That fat G-10 looks premium! Nice custom!

I sure do. Love the burst on that guitar. I've got a few guitars, but my favorite is a Gibson Les Paul Standard plus with with a Tiger's flame. I was thinking about getting the Bucklock 532 as I think they'd go great together.
