The Sunday Picture Show... (12-18-2016) ... Old Show...

Fantastic collection of knives so far today here on Armands SPS.

Thanks Armand for everything you do. It is greatly appreciated by all I am sure.

Here is an odd oldie. I have never seen anything made by Buck with a hook like this one in the blade, They are usually much more traditional in their style.
The blade is nice and thick which makes for a fairly heavy knife but boy is is solid feeling in the hand.

I don't think the blade should be somewhat mirror polished like it is so off to Leroy in the next few days to see what he can do with it.

Anybody know anything at all about the knives made in this era or have seen any others similar to this?

That's awesome Gedlicks! I seem to have read somewhere that there was a time when you could sketch what you wanted and buck would make it. I was the era when you could order a 119/120 type virtually any length and pay by the inch of added length. That could be a museum piece you have. I would be hesitant to change anything about it if it was the original finish and not wear.

some real beauties today. Nothing special just my new favorite skinner, the spine on these is a 1/4" thick

Great stuff today, as usual!

I have a couple of additions this week too.

I have 2 nephews in the scouts and I've had my eyes peeled for another Cublite and a Scoutlite for some time. A friend led me to a small collection of NIB Bucks. It included a new Cublite and Scoutlite. Unfortunately, it was an all or none deal so I was stuck with a hand full of NIB Bucklites, and a 120. Not that being stuck with them is entirely a bad thing, but I don't really have much interest in the others.

Thanks for sharing all the Bucklites...
Nice bucklites... You all know I like Bucklites... You should email me...
Nice 120 to... I have the mouse pad... I got mine from Oregon...

:)

James, that Bowie is sweet for sure... Thanks for sharing it with all of us here on the SPS...

Keep the pictures coming everyone... This is your time to share your Buck Knives with each
other... So far what a Great Show...:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

:)

Here's a 119 and a 692 both Alaskan Guides. The 692 has a rubber handle, I wanted the rosewood and I looked and Cabela's has them both with the same Item number. I liked it so I kept it.

James, That old school clip point is amazing:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: I heard Frank Buck liked to push the limits when it came to Custom Bowie style knives back when yours was made. Probably one of his treasures:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Makel, I really like your one of a kind stag 124:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

All the other knives look great too, might have to be on the look out for one of those spitfires:thumbup::thumbup:

here is my pair of 535's....

It's Too Early,

Yes, I agree on another very good SPS. Not only are there a whole lot of cool-looking blades again posted today, but for me some interesting non-knife things. Great sharing by everyone!

~The 55 year old Buck sharpening stone was a really "solid photo"....I liked it.
And to remember the pre-postal zip code days told me the years are rapidly rolling along.

~Then I had never seen the "Buck's Date Code Chart" before, and some great info there.

~When you mentioned having the chart also, and that you got yours in OR, I just "discovered" that your location is listed as Portland. That brought me back to great memories of the state I would have really liked to retire to. My wife and I lived in McMinnville for several years, wrapped around the year 2000. A GR8 ST8 with its abundant and astounding natural beauty. We camped a lot while in OR, and enjoyed every time out.

Ah well, it was a good reason to return to the Midwest since most of our family is still in this region. My wife especially is so much happier here. I think she somewhat felt she was "falling off the edge of America" living only 50 miles or so from the Pacific Ocean! Anyway, we left our youngest daughter in OR because she fell in love with the active outdoor life there. She lived in Portland a number of years, now is back in McMinnville.

Back to the SPS. I know my Buck 389 would "love OR," and our camping trips, too.......;)

Thank You, ITE for another Greatest Show. Lots of great knives today and other Buck things. The picture of the mouse pad is a keeper. For my small donation to these great knives is a pair of Alpha Hunters.

Here's a 119 for the drawing. Don't have many 119's and only seen this one twice since I got it, lol.

Anyone guess the cover?

I'm liking the no nail nick, 3 dot stag and the funky 119/120.

What do you all think?

Anybody know anything at all about the knives made in this era or have seen any others similar to this?

Hi All,

What a fantastic show you all have put on today, I was enjoying it from work all day! Brother in Bucks Armand, thank you for doing this for all of us here each week.

James that is one different looking Buck knife for sure, all I know is it's poetry in a blade. I should rephrase that and say it reminds me of a poem (words changed a little);)

There was a crooked man, and he walked a crooked mile.
He found a crooked sixpence upon a crooked stile.
He bought a crooked Buck knife, with a crooked blade,
And they all lived together in a little crooked house.

I hope you don't mind that I plagiarized that poem and made it fit James new knife. I'll share an odd Buck that was just rehomed with me. It's a 124 Frankinbuck. Funny thing it's the most comfortable handle I have ever had in my hands. My thoughts were to send it to Heath/Leroy for some help. I just may leave it as is, sometimes the ugly duckling is a beautiful swan in disguise.

Here is a Gold Series 103. There was also a 102 in the 3 knife series. Interestingly, I have only ever seen the blade etch on the 119, ruins a nice blade IMO.
