The Sunday Picture Show... (2-19-2017) <OLD SHOW LOOK AT DATE>

Nice Knives everyone!!!I think the 903's are the same size but the closer one appears bigger. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think that's all it is.....

Great Sunday show today as always. This is a 539 a rescaled honeycomb polished filet folder.

It's kinda a silly knife really but I dig it!

What great SPS we all have going this week, thank you all for making us Buck nuts proud with Beautiful Buck knife photo's. Thank you gentlemen for your comments on this 903 set, I felt the same way when I saw them (love at first sight). I do love the big blades and match that with some fine stag, well that's just a hard combo for me to resist. However, Brother Armand said it best earlier today when it comes to Buck knives I collect them all...."I'm Sick"...LOL.

Roger, these two 903's are the exact same length. It's an optical illusion my camera did buy shooting at a slight angle (I don't know why). Here is a pair of 112's the same illusion happened with them.

Skyler, I was told these are both Employee knives that were made in the old CA Custom Shop (I don't know if that's true or not never asked Joe to look them up). The first Special Order for the 903 was from Cutlery World and was for 100, Brass topped, stag handled knives. I was able to find #60 of 100 and it's part of my pile and a piece of Buck history. When I saw the stag handled NK topped 903 I knew it needed to be with the brass topped one in my pile. Why a brass topped strip on top of a knife, during a knife fight the soft brass will stop your opponent's blade as it bites into the soft metal and may allow you an advantage (so they say).

Happy Sunday everyone and God Bless

What a pleasant concluding comment to your 539 photos, Christiantrevor. Although a "kinda silly knife," you really enjoy it. That's the best kind of knife there is!

I have what some folk might consider "one silly knife" also, but it's not a Buck. Added to that, it's not highly functional because of its very small size, having only a short 2.3" satin stainless steel fixed blade. I went a little overboard when I ordered it, and even had my name engraved on the blade! Sure like it a lot for such "silliness." :D

Appreciate you sharing your cool knife.

That 903 style is way too new for that to match up with 0006 which is why I guessed someone at Buck laser etched that. The oldest 903s were stamped on the left side just like cutlery world. Later on sometimes they were made from a blank other times they just grabbed a 903 wall hanger blade from the line. Each custom model pretty much had a stock version (side it was stamped, guard, hollow grind, etc) with the main difference handle material. There are some really neat customs that were made outside of the box. They just don't pop up hardly ever. Buck did not keep the greatest records for individual knives as I have an old custom shop dagger 0012 that has no record at all. That nickel silver blade catcher is pretty neat as I've only seen brass.

I wish they would bring these back...

:)

Great show again everyone! Love the bowies!

ITE: Thanks again for putting this on each week. I had a "me day" yesterday in which I held the recliner down all day so it wouldn't escape!
Thanks for the TNT pick to remind me that I still don't have one! call me when you're ready to part with it.:D

The number is not 0006 I'm work so I can't dig it out to see right now. It has an odd stamp like C023. The older 903s as well as the wall hanger issues are almost all brass guards. Funny thing is I stumbled on a NK version of the wall hanger and sold it to a fellow collector and have never found another.

Gotcha, that makes a little more sense.

I really enjoyed the 112's today ! That 110 /112 with the dark /light wood was dramatic.
