Nice work Stumps! Your pics and scale replacement always a pleasure to look at . I want to thin the bolsters down a little thank's for that view.My last post here today for the last Buck 110 I received this past week.
This was a very inexpensive 110 that I decided to play with yesterday.
I took it apart first.
Then thinned out the bolsters some.
Started putting it back together.
Although not what I wanted to use on the handle, the thin piece of white G-10 is what I had, so I used G-Flex and let it sit about 9 hours.....
It got late last night and I just wanted to take some pictures and go to bed.
I REALLY need to finish polishing the bolsters to make it look right.
Also, I didn't get the blade pin peened well, but the knife works excellent. I may take the blade pin out when I go back to finish the bolsters and put a new pin in.
It turned into a slimmed down, front right pocket Buck 110.
The weight savings were less than I thought they might be. It went from 7.3 oz to 5.1 oz.
Kind of a fun project for a lazy Saturday.
Sorry for pipping in , I think you nailed it . The Vantage is one of my favs. A lot has to do with the clip. A lighter 110 with a Vantage clip . I'am in with that.James...that sales sample was a nice find.
Interesting to see the blade etchings and prices also.
Sounds like there was a lot of interest in that slimmed down 110.
Maybe Buck should do a trial run of some slimmed down 110s with a Vantage type pocket clip and, of course, upgraded steel.
They might be surprised how they sell.
I spent over 40 years with a Buck 110 in a belt sheath most days. I don't think I'll ever go back to a belt sheath on a folder again since I've gotten used to the pocket clip.
This one that I did was for fun. I may have a little more fun this week because I have two more inexpensive 110s coming in the mail.
(thanks for the tip on the screws tiguy7)
Slick as eel snot. Really really nice. Something like that is up next for me if I can find one.
Thanks for the complement! You will not be disappointed if you find one. I liked it so much I bought the set of 4 it was in just to get it, others are nice, not as slick as this one though.
