The Sunday Picture Show... (6-14-2015)

Always have liked the 926 over a 110. I know that shouldn't be spoken aloud. Some of us are just drop point kind a guys.

Love those D-Guards EEE as well as all the other large bowie's. Here is one that is not mine but sold recently. Another 124 D-guard.

Not sure who ended up with it. Wish it was me.

We still have lot's of time to share a knife or knives... Keep them coming...

Armand, is this the "First Shop" bowie designed by Josh Buck? I seem to remember something like the wood of the handle came from the original blacksmith shop? I really like the shape of the guard, very elegant.

Roger, your right about the wood... It came from the original blacksmith shop...
I'm not sure about Josh Buck... Maybe some one out there can tell us more about it...
I wish the wood was the same color... I like my handles to match...
It's still a sweet bowie....

:)

I so enjoy this show on Sunday mornings. Thought I should show an old custom I picked up years ago. Joe Houser seemed to think it from the 70's. He's confirming for me. Any info from you guys would be great. It's not done by Dave either, I had this at the Blade show and ask him if he knew anything. It was customized after market. The wood and pins are original and were never removed.

Another Great Show, All those D-Guards look great. Welcome, Kim, to the forum. You will enjoy your stay here and you will gather a lot of information on Buck knives. Thought I would post an older picture of my 650 series knives.

Armand, it took a bit of digging. The First Shop bowie was a LE sold thru Cabela's in 2008. CJ Buck talks about the knife in CJ'S Corner in the June 2008 Newsletter. I also found a reference that Buck trademarked the term "First Shop". Here is the blurb from the Cabela's catalog.

Buck Knives First Shop Limited Edition Bowie

Here's a chance to own a piece of history, but act quickly because only a few will be made. The handles of these knives are carved from the wood of the floorboards in the original blacksmith shop where Hoyt Buck made his very first knife in 1902 when he was a 13-year old apprentice. Hoyt's great, great grandson designed this knife to honor Buck's historical beginnings. It's a Bowie-style knife, and in the middle of the wood handle is a stag horn centerpiece featuring a nickel-silver anvil. The protective D-guard is solid brass. The blade is 420HC stainless steel honed to the sharp, lasting edge that Buck knives are known for. Only 250 of these limited-edition serialized knives will be made exclusively available from Cabela's. Each comes in a handsome oak display box with a certificate of authenticity and a story that explains the history of the knife. Blade length: 7-1⁄2" Overall length: 12-1⁄2"Weight: 15 oz.

Thanks Tony, can you tell me more about this Buck... How do you like it...
I like the looks of it... It looks nice and thin, the way I like them...

Thanks for sharing on the SPS... :)

Thats a JAG 110. Titanium framelock. Very thin. Really nice in the pocket.
