The Sunday Picture Show... (9-20-2020) . . . (OLD Show Look at the DATE...)

I remember hearing some of the early white handle fixed blade Bucks were prone to cracking in cold weather and was discontinued quickly. I can't spell the material used but it began 'Mel' ???. It's one of the early Buck rarities.

Clint, do you mean Melamine? This material is well known for furniture coating. The knife I know that has had problems with cracks was the 119 experimental. It was a construction with a molded handle. Your bro gave me one with cracked handle. 625 of them have been sold to the BCCI members.

MELAMINE...and yes it was reported that it did tend to crack easily if cold. Growing up our everyday tableware was a green Melamine set. Don't recall one ever breaking if dropped on the kitchen floor though. If any of you recall, it was also the nasty toxic related chemical the Chinese added to baby formula (with disastrous results) because it falsely elevated the protein chemical analysis.

Last posting for today, my most recent 120 purchase. 1 of 24. Great color.
Did not fit into the holster sheath it came with without a struggle. Handle like that should not be covered with a flap anyways. Makael put me onto the problem, the guard is a bit wider and was hitting the top the plastic liner. A trim of the liner should fix that.

I know I already said "last post" but Craig's Melamine twin set reminded me of another 120 I had laying around that would fit the opening theme. Interesting thing about this one is that it is pinned which makes me think it was a handle repair/replace perhaps. All other Melamine's I know of are barrel nuts. But just a fun thought, the difference between a barrel nut and pinned handle is 1 day.
