The Sunday Picture Show (April 4, 2021)

We'll I'm back from a day of running around. You all did not disappoint with the show while I was gone. I did get the Minwax on the bench top but never got to the fence posts. I found a belt sander on a stand for $60 on CraigsList and that was a multiple hour diversion.

gedlicks gedlicks Are all 4 of those 532's Sterling?
I've always joked with my daughter that her inheritance will be in the basement and barn, not the bank account. I do worry about it a little though.

Makael Makael You showed a fabulous 110 but failed to say anything about the remarkable scales...

heres the froe bowie jb talkin about...
I like the froe, one has a permanent place on the Mule for grounds duty.... the sheath not so much.

Hi All, Happy Easter to each of you. Sure hope you got to spend the day with family & Friends. I was bummed that work came first today, But 12 hours later and I'm home with some of the family and now the fun can begin. Anyway, thank you Roger for doing this event each week I really look forward to the show. That said, it would not be a show without all of your fantastic photos and conversation. Thank you all.

Here is a few sets for Roger and everyone else.

Manufacturers send sample materials in to Buck to check out. I believe they are Corleon with swirl and were a sample sent in for consideration. Buck tried to put a bit of polish on the Titanium but no luck. The maroon color looks good against the titanium scales. Almost as light as an aluminum version.

Those scales on Makael's 110 are called Raffir. A fairly new man made handle material.

As for the bolsters they are like that because the handle frame is titanium. I believe it gets like that when they are sanded or buffed. I have seen that on other titanium knives.
Jerad could answer that better.

If a knife needs large lettering on the blade saying, "This is a special knife", maybe the maker thinks it isn't so special or different.
Words on the blade remind me of the Chinese bowies in dept stores. If a knife is of LE quality then its more important to me that the knife be built with better materials and be a better user than the original version. Professional quality I suppose. The 100 series pro line, Micarta and S35VN shows better materials and steel than the standard version. I have alot of fixed blades and the LE or Sprint runs are my favorites. If the 124 was S35VN and Micarta I would be all over it. Even the Ebony looks real nice but Micarta suits everyday use and abuse better. It helps justify the extra funds premium knives bring if they can be users as well.
The other side of an LE would be gold inlay on the blade honoring something of significance and glued on scales using all kinds of great materials. The knife was never intended to be used. Two versions of an LE to me and users have a greater appeal.

Exactly the materials used. Thank you

Laser etching on the blade to make a knife "special" used to be strictly a Smoky Mountain thing, Buck has now injected it more mainstream.

On a different note....did anyone here actually ever buy one of these from Smoky Mountain? The most pimped out Buck 110 I've ever seen. This is a "Billboard Knife" to the extreme. I thought about buying one and sanitizing it but never did, the red corelon would be sweet against the brass. Stock Photo.

I bought one after market on the Auction site for probably less money than they originally sold for. It is a whole lot going on and in my opinion too much. I am sure it has collectors appeal to Alabama alumni. They were serialized but do not know final count. I have 063.

How else is one to know it was a Limited Edition? I don't mind it at all, though I do think it could be done more tastefully. Often later down the road there is no box or coa with the knife and you have no idea of it's origin.
