i was lucky being 1st one in the door at factory sale couple years ago and grabbed this damascus vanguard fast....

i like the long blades better than the minis...vanguard should be a customizable knife....

My only Vanguard. I do like the style, but I like my Paklite set for hunting.

agree.

those longer bladed vanguard are rare. I never see for sale....

they are rare---i did sell one a few years ago and kick myself for selling it....money was good though....

Craig...what time in the morning does that require?

Sometimes it takes awhile... 4 years 6 months between finding the first and completing the set. Mini Zippers and Vanguards. A 2006 special project for Bass Pro. They are about 1/2" shorter in both the blade and handle. Front to back models 686, 687, 688, and 689. Notice they were not marked with model numbers or date codes. Without getting off the sofa to find my notes, I think the build quantity was only about 800 each. Joe Houser has done a few limited editions based on these blades, I have another one somewhere (thank you Makael).
