That is what I was thinking also. It looks similar to other models I have that were made by Joe, but this one did not have any coa that my other ones came with.
i think joe did more of a flat square edge finger guard----not sloped like that guard is back towards the elk---thats more like what heath stone does..
.just a guess...
Only own one Buck 116 Caper and I have never used it - the only standard size Buck pattern I own that is unused. I let the taxidermist cape the animals head if I’m having it mounted (pretty rare any longer). This knife is almost 50 years old - wish I held up as well! OH
