The Sunday Picture Show (March 3rd, 2024)

Same here in my part of the Midwest. I lived in Idaho for a while and I remember seeing an older man standing respectfully by the side of the road, hat removed, as a funeral procession passed.
I think the further you get from metropolis, the more likely you are to see that level of respect.

A friend of mine passed some years back, and his casket was transported on a farm wagon led by a beautiful team of chestnut colored Belgian horses. He raised Belgians and Percherons.

Not a single vehicle passed the procession in EITHER direction as it moved down a 2 lane state highway in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Many folks got out of their vehicles.

A good memory that makes you believe in the humanity of others.

Thank you Roger for the History lesson and doing the Sunday Picture Show. I wonder how long slavery would have lasted if the South had seceded unopposed. Here are a couple of Cross Locks with Titanium Nitride coated blades. The drop point blade is chisel sharpened with the coating only on one side of the bevel. The zipper has identical tapers and is coated on both sides. The HRC of the coat is 82.View attachment 2519060

The bottom left 303 was my Dad's edc for the last several years of his life. I believe one of my Mom's brothers gave it to him. The charcoal one has a somewhat different coloring than the other charcoal Buck's I have. It's the only one of this bunch that hasn't been carried - by me anyway. Wonderful pattern

Ironically, I just returned from Camdenton, Missouri. Unfortunately for a family funeral. Drove 20 hours across CT, NY, PA, OH, IL and Indiana. My wife's family are "lake people," out of Indiana and Kansas. It was my first time spending time in Missouri. Really pretty place. Something that really struck me, was the way people there pull over for the procession. I had never seen that before and it brought a tear to my eye. What a show of respect. In the northeast, you'll find people honking at and cutting into processions.

Anyhoo, America is a beautiful place... go see it.

No 301s for me, but yall have posted some nice ones...

Happy Sunday!

Glad you enjoyed Missouri. Sorry it was for a funeral. People pull over for funeral processions in rural east Tennessee also. I don't know if they do it in Knoxville or not.

Here is a 303 Cadet with poly-pearl scales. I picked this one up from another forum member some years ago. Interesting and very unusual with two tone scales, gray on the front and the normal white on the rear. I have 3 poly-pearls, this odd 2002, a 2003, and a 2004. These were a WalMart issue.

not much longer. many southerners fled to Brazil (last country in the western world to allow slavery)after the war to continue their slave ownership farming lifestyle. their relatives are still there and do old school southern ball events wearing confederate uniforms, waving confederate flags and the gals in southern belle gowns. doing square dancing, eating southern food and listening to country music. it's kinda comical to see the pictures.....

regardless by 1888 even Brazil banned slavery. so even a very pro slavery country still banned it bout 23 years after the usa Civil war.
