That Nessmuk is sweet!.
I stated awhile back on the "knives you wish Buck made" thread for a flat ground Nessmuk in D2.
I've always thought those were great.

I've been into Marble's knives longer than Bucks.
So it's only natural I have a collection of 914s.
... Close to a Nessmuk style knife, flat grind, and pays homage to one of the coolest knives ever made, the Marbles Woodcraft.

Thanks, there is a lot of speculation on where and how this nessmuk originated. The woodcraft is mentioned as well as the Green River skinner and the plain old butcher knife.

T/C No. 15 "NESSMUK" KNIFE BY BUCK
George Washington Sears (penname "Nessmuk"), at the age of 59, weighing 105 pounds and weak from pulmonary tuberculosis, canoed the Fulton chain of lakes in the Adirondacks in 1880. When he went into the Adirondacks, his entire load, including his canoe and two days provisions, never weighed more than 26 pounds. He favored a "trinity" system of cutting tools; a custom-built double hatchet, a substantial moose pattern folding knife, and a light, fixed, thin blade knife "handy for skinning, cutting meat, or eating with." This limited edition "Nessmuk" knife is made exclusively for Thompson/Center by Buck's Custom Shop. Limited to 150 knives, the No. 15 knife features a 4 3/4" flat grind blade with the distinct "Nessmuk" profile. Grips are made of North American Elk horn with a lanyard hole for a thong. Each knife will be marked "T/C No. 15 'Nessmuk'" and serialized 001 through 150. A leather style sheath is included

Oh yes. This last shipment was the third I have sent since Christmas. While a bit painful to wait the extended period these days, still well worth it.

pjsjr pjsjr GPyro GPyro Although a sin, I am quite envious of your possessions.;) I have pondered a Cabela's edition 914 for a few years now, but when found they are quite pricey. Not sure what to say about the Nessmuk except wow.

Beautiful knives gentlemen.

Awesome! Totally jealous!

Thanks for sharing!

Nice stories/knives guys. I have three that have interesting stories that I have shared at one time or the other on the SPS. But, I have never made a picture of them together, so here is my Dad’s 110, a 1987 112 that I bought as new old stock at a local Ace Hardware a few years ago, and my Buck 309 that my Dad gave me from the mid-70’s for helping him rake leaves as a kid. We often talk of Buck being a family business, but they have certainly been a part of my family for many years...

Exactly, I bought it based on the marketing picture. If I'd know it was going to be so much like the black micarta I would have passed.b
here's mine...depending on lighting used shows more or less grain and blond.....

guess ours are pretty close using equal lighting.....when i opened it at night in a darker room, when i got it...... it looked black to me, but that isn't really true at all with proper lighting.

Yeah, there's some blonde there too, but I still say neither one of ours come close to the advertised model, lol. Still a nice knife though. I almost sent mine back but....it's still here.
