The Sunday Picture Show (May 16, 2021)

The patina on that handle looks great.
That knife probably looks better today than the day it was new.

I have a real story for this one. its very boring but its a story.. so had one of these tan spear point gcks, not this one above^. I didnt like the factory sheath much. it's kinda bulky and clunky. it's grown on me now, but anyways....

started pestering Mike to make me a sheath for a long time. he didnt have one of these then and said can't do it without one to model. I kept pestering him for months endlessly. he finally had enough and went out to find one. one day he texted and said he finally found a factory blemish one...this one^. so he made me the sheath and I just bought the blem and the sheath from him.

put my original into the collection pile and started using this one. its before the fb got lasered on blems...which I kinda like better even though it allowed people to lie and sell as new....but thats a whole other topic.......

Happy SPS all. Here is a mini 110 that belonged to an ex Buck employee. I sent it in to Leroy and he cleaned it up a bit and verified it was one he built years ago.
It matches the one DOGPOUND77 posted pictures of except the clip on the blade is deeper and more pronounced, the nail nick is a bit different and the tang stamp
is just USA.

My special Buck Knives (knives with a story) are all what I would call Family Knives. The 301 Stockman my Grandma gave me for Christmas 1972 and had my initials engraved on the bolster. The Buck 105 belonged to my late cousin Mac, when he died his wife gave it to me - he bought it at the Marine Corps Exchange aboard Camp Lejeune NC on 28 JUN 1966. The final one I have to show today is a Buck 321 Bird Knife that my Dad bought years ago, he gave it to me about ten years ago when he quit bird hunting. OH

Big weekend for me. Got to meet my first grandson, Benjamin. A couple of old friends called who I havent talked to in over 20 years. Met one this morning for breakfast in Hayden ID. Guess ill be purchasing a snowmobile before winter and get to play like the old days.
The knife im showing is from the Buck archive. I believe it was a warranty knife modified to be a different shape An absolute gem of a knife. 20210516_183524.jpg20210516_183539.jpg20210516_183553.jpg20210516_183524.jpg20210516_183539.jpg20210516_183553.jpg

Hi All,

Happy knife photo & story SPS day. What a great idea Roger had for this week's show. Thank you Roger for doing the show each week. Also thank you to all who post photos or comment each week to help make these shows a success.

This is going to be the story of two Buck knives and their journey's. I was watching some of the guys on this forum finding knives in garage sales, antique shops, net working, and online auctions. So I decided to try and see if I could find anything. Well I found what looked like an old one line fixed blade Buck knife on Craigslist. It was an hour and a half drive for me and if I was lucky it maybe an old stag handled knife at that. As it turned out the seller bought a full storage unit that had some tool boxes in an auction and this Old buck knife was in one of the tool boxes, I paid him what he wanted for the knife. My thoughts were of using it as a trader knife for something I collect later on.

Well the knife was a one line barrel nut 118 with white melamine handles not stag. (nice score!)

Some time later one of our fellow Buck knife collectors wanted to make a trade. I don't collect these old guys and had actually picked it up for trading.
So that old 118 was traded for my first 921, an old custom shop knife with SamBar stag (nice trade)

Happy SPS Day and thank you Roger for hosting the event!

I don't have many stories to go along with my knife collection other than the typical-for-me "I sliced my finger" or "cut my jeans while trying to strop a blade on my thigh". But, I do have one that I consider an example of the true gentlemen, and ladies, in the Buck community.

I wasn't much of a Punk fan when the knife first appeared but it eventually grew on me. I found an old ad that Makael Makael posted so I PM'd him about purchasing one. He responded quickly and the deal was done. Seeing that the ad was older he could have asked for more but he honoured the original price. Here is what I received...

What a great knife! Then I flipped over the box and found this...

I immediately contacted him to check if this was a mistake and that I would gladly return this unique treasure back to him. He declined and honoured our deal. What a truly fine gentleman he is and I love the knife.

dont worry i got a story for this one.....so I wanted a no fuller 119. didnt really want to pay custom shop prices, but no other easy option really. so other than the no fuller s30v and brass upgrade costs....picked cheapest handle I could get minus the phenolic choice to keep the price lower. there ya go.....my story.😁

Another good show behind us, thanks to all who contributed.
Hope to see you all again next week but feel free to continue to post and comment here until then.

Spoiler alert: Next week I'm going to show off that Mammoth Tooth 110 from C&C if the mailman does his job.
