blue ribbon sugar cane syrup. it's sugar cane ground down into the juice...which is boiled down and over time turned into syrup. it's a super sweet syrup.....

blue ribbon is an old type of cane...that piece I have in my pic is that breed.

its a love or hate thing on the syrup. raw sugar cane juice has a very different taste and flavor and most people like it. syrup side some love it some dislike it.
I am one of those that loves the taste of the raw cane juice but am not a fan of the syrup. Some I have had, had a bite. Might have been a bad run, who knows.

I love maple syrup. Pure maple syrup, not Mrs buttersworth. Sometimes I have a shot of maple syrup before bed. I'm going to have to try this stuff.

very different flavor than maple.....the less refined cane syrup is, the stronger the flavor......I like it on somethings in limited doses. I'm not a syrup of any kind fan really. when i was a boy my mom used Karo corn syrup, cause it was cheaper than maple or the better stuff, for pancakes and I never cared for that. that kinda ruined syrups for me. it was a nasty sweet. still got bad memories of the taste of it.

I prefer cane syrup to corn syrup. prefer raw sugar cane juice to all of it though. it's very sweet but not a sickening type sweet.

Interesting... I have been known to eat sugar by the spoonful... also, I can taste unnatural and sweetners in my food and drink and hate them... someone should start a "local food" thread to unhide all these gems...

well we're turning Roger's SPS into a sugar thread.....

table crystal sugar in America is made from sugar cane. England they use beets to make sugar. ours tastes far better. if ya like sugar by the spoon you'll likely like cane syrup. if ya like molasses, you'll likely like cane syrup. molasses also comes from sugar cane juice process. fl is a big cane producing state, think biggest in usa, but Louisiana is a big producer too.

ever get to Florida there is a museum/state park which is an old post civil war cane farm near Newberry. they do the original cane grinding and syrup making still and sell the syryp and cane they grow. neat piece of old florida farming history......worth a visit for the cane grinding during harvest time fall season time.
