The Survive! Never Say Die! Chat Thread

No electricity?!!
What about running water or natural gas? Y'all gotta have that fancy shmancy inter web. Unless you're sending out carrier pigeons to the local Starbucks to post your replies on here.

Nah, we've got this contraption like a big hamster wheel set up in the living room. The kids take turns running on it to generate a little current. Sometimes they slow down and we have to put the pet bear in behind 'em to speed 'em up again. I get enough juice to make a few posts, the bear gets to practice his predatory instincts, and the kids get to run and scream in the house. Win-win-win

That sounds amazing! It has to be great cardio for the kids. I need one of those setups for my pup. She'll be able to power the whole neighborhood.

I don't know what part of this conversation I came in at but that's too funny!

I'm sure she'd enjoy it. It would save you having to walk her, and shoot, we can all use the exercise.

It's all fun and games until child services shows up. But after a few laps around the wheel they're usually so impressed they're speechless. Man, those guys have a high rate of turn-over in that office though. I never see the same worker twice. Weird.

But you have pretty mountains there right?
If I go there, I'll be pissed off if it looks like Nebraska!

Lol. There might be a hill or two. Actually I think Idaho has the largest roadless area in the lower 48. The road system is, hmmmm........not the best. Much of the state is cut off East/West by the mountains until you get far enough south to hit the Snake River Plain.

That honestly sounds great!

+1, mine might be able to power the whole town lol. I bet she would give Hoover dam a run for its money:D

Haha!! So you own a nut job also!! Mine is a 9 month old Queensland Heeler that is hell bent on causing havoc everywhere she goes.

Yep, cute as hell but, man she's got some energy. She is a 1.5 year old American Chocolate Labrador Retriever. I can take her for an hour long walk and then play catch for an hour and she is still raring to go. She only really sleeps when she is bored.

This will change more or less after they're well into their 2's. My German Shepard was just such an anti-sleep fiend and such a menace to my rest (mean this in the nicest possible way). She would just never stop and I've noticed lately since she's turned 4, she has calmed down a lot and actually gets a good night sleep and her internal clock has finally synced up with her human counterparts :D

Yeah, my last couple dogs eventually calmed down too as they aged. I dont mind the energy most of the time anyway as she listens quite well already and is great entertainment:)

You may be in for a rude awakening with a lab! My old lab mix used to go full Mad Dog until she was 13 years old. She slowed down a tiny bit, but not much.

Sadly I didn't. It was a low mile 65' 289 automatic that I bought in 1995 while I was in highschool. I foolishly sold it in 2000 because it wasn't getting driven at all.
I will have another 65 some day. Maybe I'll go for a Fastback next time around.

Yeah, one of my Golden Retrievers never really did calm down much either until she started having issues with her hips. I almost think its more of a personality thing. And, a breed thing of course(Retrievers are a high energy breed for sure). Either way, I am fine with it. I wouldnt want a dog that laid around too much. I love Retrievers goofy personalities and they go with my active lifestyle.

Nice pup:thumbup:

Here is my little goof...
