The tally thus far...

This guy always costs me about $5,000 for toys every time he posts :grumpy:

.

I have been in South Dakota since Sunday, and have gone out twice for hunting prairie dogs. These are not marathon sessions, because I am here to visit my parents, and have my ten-year-old daughter with me.

Anyway, my first Prairie Dog Safari session was on Monday, and it was more of a warm-up session than anything else, to become re-acquainted with my rifle (a Cooper Arms M21 Phoenix chambered in .204 Ruger). Of the 34 rounds I fired, I had 17 hits. That's a 50% hit ratio. Today's session was 25 rounds, and I had 20 hits. That's a better 80% hit ratio. Here is today's tally counter:

Monday's tally counter photo was for CRK fans, given that the featured knife is an Umfaan:

That .204 Ruger is a blazing cartridge. Great on varmints. Where I come from, the orchardists battle with "Grey Diggers". a I had a CZ chambered in .204 that could make those guys vaporized out to 250 Yards with almost boring regularity.

Now, I use a R-25 (it's a DPMS AR) chambered in .243 Win. It sends 58gr V-Max screamin downrange. It makes the Grey Diggers do counter clockwise backflips while launching them to the right everytime.

For closer shots (0-150 yds) I like to use my open site CZ chambered in .17 HMR.

Here's a shot of the business end of my coyote thump'n, grey digger flippin'
rifle

Hope that doesn't make me more inclined to become on of these:):D just joking.

I look forward to this thread every year Ken. Good to see you're doing your part in varmit control. Thanks for taking the time to take the pictures and post em. I really need to get out and burn some powder myself. ;)
