Just slap some flitz on a piece of paper and rub the washers on it, they will be nice and polished afterwards.

I may have spoken prematurely on the verdict of the Tenacious.
After calming down a bit, and sitting down with it, along with some 3-in-1 oil, and some ultra-fine grit wet-dry sandpaper, I believe I've managed to smooth things up to the point where it's serviceable again. I managed to buff up the washers without eroding them away.
The end result isn't quite as smooth as it was two days ago before the mishap. But it's smooth enough that the ghetto wave modification works when I pull it out of my pocket, and closes back up easy enough.
