Nice to look at but I would use it also.
What kind of Case is that?

Did you go to fiesta this year? I recently moved 75 miles north and finally abandoned Gloucester

Lucy my new daily coffee pal, after a face to face encounter with the other 6 or 7, Lucy is the only one that ventures alone

Humppa,

Nice assortment of knives and watch - the only problem I have found with the pocket watches, they want to compete with my knives for the watch pocket.:D

On it Andi!
Thank you Sam and still likin' your one trick Pony. ;):D

It is a 1970 (ten dot and the first year of the dot dating system) Case red bone Copperhead - extremely hard to find in such pristine condition and with that kind of red bone. It will remain one of the privileged few that will remain pretty much unused, as long as I own it. I have many many nice users - maybe this one would be more to your liking - it is a 1971 red bone equal ender:

Here are 4 recent arrivals, someone stop me please :D

Robin - those are really excellent knives and they look swell as a group! ;) I say the same thing to self all the time! :D

Do you have a family photo of all your case red bones? They are stunning.
No Justin - you remind me that I need to remedy that. ;)

How is Case not able to produce a scale color like this anymore?

I have heard many tales of why, from old timers I know and over the years. The one I like best is that one of the bone dyers got laid off or fired, during the bankruptcy years, and destroyed all of the color formulas, as he departed. Actually, those rich red bone colors did seem to disappear from the market during that time frame. It is probably not true and Justin is probably closer to being correct. ;)

Justin and Christian - I love those Charlows!:)

Thanks Primble :) I made the same experience ... but I don´t want to carry a wirst watch anymore. THere is always a place where a small pocket watch can be stored.

That is true - they even make nice little draw string pocket slips for them - as well.

I said that, but, my old pocket watches are pretty darn special to me, as well as my old knives. ;)

Did somebody say pocket watches? Maybe we can see some with some of those red bones..talk about a nice desktop photo:cool:

Andi, very nice sir!

Pete, the new paradise has some great knife photo ops!

Christian, super good looking knife!!

Robin, some great new acquisitions! Go ...Go

How is Case not able to produce a scale color like this anymore?

There are three types of red colorants.
Iron oxide - which produces dull reds
Organic reds - These are not as stable as inorganics, and the colors are weaker.
Cadmium red - These are full bright reds, but have mostly been withdrawn due to the toxicity of the Cadmium.

There are a lot of chemicals which were common prior to the the early eighties, but which have since been withdrawn because of toxicity. The end product was safe enough, but the workers who worked with those chemicals often paid the price.

Whatever 9blades had on that other thread must have been contagious!!!

Now it is over here!!!

Another partial picture of a lovely ole knife - I don't know what this place is coming to be!!!

. . . . . . and now Gevo has it ! . . . . . .

over 5,000 posts and he has now arrived at posting partial pictures!!

I'll be back later with some group shots of ole red bones - or partial pictures of ole red bones!!!!

:grumpy::o:(:rolleyes::eek::cool::thumbdn:

More seriously - Frank - that was a good explanation of the red dyes - I wonder why my newer model car is such a beautiful Crystal Red tint-coat - wouldn't you know it ;) - or was your explanation just for dyes and not paints ??

Here's a Schrade stockman that Andi was kind enough to give me. He also gave me a Rough Rider congress for me to try out knives with 3 and 4 blades. I don't have any good pictures of the RR yet, but the smooth orange bone on it is beautiful. The color almost looks fluorescent. I'll write a little more about them along with more pictures in another thread.

Thank you again for the knives Andi.
