The TRADITIONAL sunday picture show!!!!

Took the dog for a walk and explore on the back side of the property this afternoon. This is my carry for the walk:

Bravo on that photo, sir. High-standards are tack drivers -- I have a couple, myself. Wish I had a Silver Knight, being partial to things made in Oregon these days, but I make do with a chintzy plastic-handled LST instead -- works good when I need to carry a knife in with my keys, anyway.

Dunno what you could have done about the overexposure with all that grey stump in the background. Sure the blade of the knife is a bit blown-out, but this is the autoexposure algorithm's perfect-scenario, right here, and you got fantastic texture through most of the image.

I really need to get out and take some pics, but it's dark and gloomy here, and I've got a stack of work to do :(

Enjoy your Sundays everyone :)

Hey Jack, that's no excuse, it always dark and gloomy 'ere!! ;p

I received something from close to home this week.....

A Wrights of Sheffield 'Ettrick'. Carbon steel blade with Rosewood scales.

I wasn't overjoyed by the fact that the scales are two separate pieces per side....however, I kinda like colour....and the small 'flaw' adds to the look.
It'll be great for work....now stock take is over and the auditors have gone! :-/

Hi mate, 10.00am and the sun is just coming over the trees, behind clouds of course! I've forgotten what it looks like, my Citizen Eco-Drive (solar-powered) watch has stopped!

That rosewood looks really nice, but it's poor the scales are in two pieces. You can't see from the pics though. Enjoy your new knife

Jack

Ha ha! That sounds about right Jack.

Here are a few more shots....

Sad that Sheffield = Shonky these days....but I'm not giving up hope.

I am thinking about one of their Lambsfoot's.....

Despite its nice looks, that's shocking they sent a knife out like that isn't it, though hardly something new?

I thought you had one of their Lambsfoot knives. Think they're always worth buying over the counter if possible. Let me know if I can help.

Given that I bought it direct, yes it is Jack....but I was kinda expecting.

Nope, I had an one of Mr Ablett's Barlows in buffalo once. A real nail breaker, with equally as disappointing F&F.

Jack, I hope when you track down one of his Stag handled versions, it's not so disappointing.

Thank you, I'll certainly bare that in mind....although I am contemplating a trip to York sometime soon.

Andi - Your doing better than I seem to manage with the photos! I even used my proper camera today, but I my shaky hands got the better of me!

Hope it's a bit drier today?

A good selection on sale in Sheffield too. That's disappointing about your Ablett Barlow, I was thinking of getting one in stag, but if I do I'll get it over the counter, or maybe I'll pass. Shocking that these Sheffield cutlers can't turn out more consistent work or view their work with a critical eye. Anywhere else, and it would beggar belief that a cutler would send out a knife with scales in that condition, but sadly (and it sickens me), in Sheffield, it's more or less the norm. I hope I don't have to listen to any more lectures about the consistently outstanding quality of Mr Wright's knives on my next visit to the outlet in York.

Now that's hilarious. And from now on you'll always have a good excuse for avoiding to clean the windows :p :D

And your cat certainly knows how to dress up, that Barlow is one fine specimen. My antique yellow one will be back tomorrow.
