Lucky man Jack, I have to go to work this afternoon. So making the most of the day I got up this morning and put new edges on the peanut that arrived yesterday. I do like case cv steel, quite easy to work on and gets very sharp.

SweptEdge - how are you liking the pen blade on the Small Texas Jack compared to the Peanut's pen blade?

This photo doesn't do the wood justice, but I like the warmness of it.
The French call the wood amourette.

amourette = snakewood = Schlangenholz = Piratinera guainensis (Moraceae) ... it's all the same :)

Just got this yesterday. I've been eyeballing these for a long time. It is hard to capture but the ebony on this one is incredibly dark and smooth.

Have fun, Jack!

Thanks fellers. The only wildlife was a lot of climbers Scruff. Sorry to hear about work Paul, hope you'll be getting some time off in lieu.

It was great to get out to my old rock-climbing ground, where I've spent so many happy hours, haven't uploaded all my pics yet, but here's my Victorinox Climber :)

Sorry it took a little time to get back to you.

OOh, I really like it. It's a different blade for sure. I just keep in the back of my head that there is a SAK classic blade in a urban use Altoids tin I keep put away in a cargo pocket-pocket most of the time lol. The STJ pen blade is like a sharpened thumbnail, or something of those sorts, where it is useful to open packages and things.

I can hold either the Peanut or the STJ shield side out and access the main blade with my right thumb. I have found that my middle finger accesses the pen blades securely from the back side when opening them. The 1/2 stops on the littler Peanut make it harder to open the pen blade.

Just observations, I'm diggin' the STJ better for sure.
