The Trebuchet...

That is just too freakin' cool!!!!! IMO, what makes this piece different than most of the "art for arts sake' art knives is that while ti is first and foremost a gorgeous piece of scuplture, it appears that is is also functional. Kind of like the Bang and Olufsen stereo of letter openers.:D

I'll bet in school the teachers told you to quit day dreaming so much. You showed them! This is what people with great imaginations are able to do. Outstanding!

Magnus, you've outdone yourself this time!

A modern tribute to medieval warfare. A trebuchet that will sit on a desk vs being 50-60 feet tall. A finely executed scalpel vs the flaming boulder being thrown in my minds eye.

Besides Entity (you never forget your first and I adore her to this day!) this is my favorite creation from your amazing mind.

A happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year to you and your family my friend!!!

What I love about this piece is everything. I don't simply look at it, I visually caress it.

Thank you all so very much for you comments! You are too kind!

That has to be the happiest knife ever. There'll be people standing around your table with huge grins.

John
If that is so, I feel I have succeded in my quest as a knifemaker! :)

The only thing that could POSSIBLY make this even cooler, would be a coil spring and a trigger launch release. Aim it at malefactors as they approach or retreat.

Numbered set of 1000?? Yes, count me in, too. :) I'll take 007, Magnus. :)

Your mind is healthy.

;)

Coop
Thanks Coop! That idea with the coilspring needs further attention! ;)

I am begining to consider a numbered set... But of 1000!?! I'd have to live to be the worlds oldest man to achieve that! Perhaps 10 pieces, to begin with... :) (Noted #007 for you :) )

This is really cool knife-art! Not a bad idea to "mass produce" something like this. I think there would be lots of knife people interested in something like this. I know I would.

Marcel

If a series is being done - or even contemplated - count me in.

Roger

Marcel and Roger you are noted in my book as well. :)

Thanks so much again!

When is this show? Need to be there.
It is on January 6-7th in Helsinki.

You might be onto something there! Thank you! :D

Thank you my firend! I really like how you envision this piece! I had several "images" in my head while working on it too! :)
I wish that the New Year brings you and yours joy, warmth, good tidings and all that is beautiful!

Those are some very warm and heartfelt words Bob! :)
Thank you!

Came back to look again and busted out laughing aloud at this. The visual is going to be so true. Props!

I have to thank you for making this.
I showed the pictures to my wife and she was speechless for almost 30 seconds.

Wow. I have looked at it and looked at it and....

I have finally gotten to the point where I can type. Truly beautiful, and as others mentioned, a functional piece of art. Perfectly named too. Has the same lines and balance of a trebuchet.

I would be very interested in purchasing one if you make a run. Adding you to my list of people to watch.

Just before the show in Finland I had the thought that the Trebuchet deserved a box for displaying and shipping, so I modified a box I had.

Here's how that looks:

Packed up and ready to go, the stand is underneath the leather between two pieces of "foam":

I have to admit - I didn't think this piece could get any more awesome. I was so wrong.

Sheesh. When does the bidding start?

This thread needs to be bumped up every month for the next five years. :D
