The tweeners...which blade shape appeals to you, and why?

I generally prefer drop points but there's something about the lines of the 17 that really appeals to me.

1) 17
2) 16
3) 15

BK-15 because:

- it's a smaller version of the BK-5
- it's got a slightly longer blade than the 16 and 17

If I gotta choose 1, it'd be the 16. Drop points are my "go to/do it all" knife. Good solid spine for rougher chores, a fair bit of flat blade for cutting, nice sweep for skinning etc, and a stronger point than most clips.

I just picked up the set (couldn't help it and I'm impressed with em all. The 15 is like a steak knife of steroids, looks to be a great slicer, and feels good in the hand. Well they all do actually.

The 17 looks great but would be the first to go if I had to dump one of em- here's hoping I won't

I am not a drop point fan but I love clip point. I own a BK 2 because its such a beast but I don't plan to buy a BK 16. I have a BK17 and want a couple more and and also a BK15.

I'm going to be buying the 16 and 17. Both have different shapes and grinds and I'm not sure which I'll like better.

I ordered the 17 because I really love clip points but I think I will probably soon order a 16 as well. I'm just marking time till the 17 gets here in a few more days.

I like all 3, and probably for different reasons.

For a pure hunting knife I prefer a drop point, and I have collected a lot of custom knives in that shape. the 16 looks like it would be a good hunting knife that would also work for harder chores. I have stayed away from clip points because they seemed to me to be an outdated style. I don't know why now but that is how I felt 15-20 years ago. OTOH I like a good Bowie and the 17 looks more like a Bowie than a traditional clip point hunting knife. And I've come to like the utility of a more keen point which the 17 has. The 15 has a more unique blade shape and looks like it would be good for camp use. I don't know which I would be able to choose, and of course a person can't go wrong with any of them, but maybe I would lean towards the 17.

The 17. It has the same belly as a 16, but pointier. I love how it looks, and I see little that it lacks in utility compared to the others, some will disagree though.

All of them hold a lot of weight but the 16 seems to be a timeless and epic design in my opinion. I can't wait for it!

I want a 5 and sure would like a 15 to go with it. If Ethan Becker says the 16 is the the knife he always wanted I really need to give that the thought it deserves and get a 16 also. The list was something like 5,16,15 but then the 4 came out in stamped limited edition so I went for that first.

The 17 reminds me of my first deer skinning knife, a Schrade Uncle Henry Bear Paw clip point folder, that I still own. I've gravitated toward drop points as I've gotten older but the look of the 17 has me excited the most.

The 16. Love my bk2! So I had to order the drop point the other day.
The way I see it, it's not a tweener unless it sits 'tween my 2 & my 14.

I actually came to this thread to answer that myself. Ironically, I've read good arguments for all three. Looking like I'll have to get the whole set, but probably in this order 17, 15, 16. Because I have no clip fixed blades points right now, and lots of drop points...
