Hi,

In speaking about a true gentleman folder, my vote would go to the Chris Reeve Mnandi. Anyone else here agree?? If not, lets see your list of the
top 3 gentleman folders, in all your opinions!

I wasn't a fan of the Mnandi, though I LOVE the look and love my sebenza. It was flawless and beautiful, but was just, to me, a weird hybrid is style and size. I really, really like the Fremont Jack much more, though I've only handled a few patterns. I'd love to try a few more. I'm totally falling for slipjoints.

Big fan of the Mnandi, but it's out of place around here. My vote for the ultimate gentleman's folder is the swayback, covered in ivory. For example -

Agreed. As nice as the Mnandi is, I wouldn't categorize it as a traditional folder.

Love my Mnandi but it doesn't fit our definition of a Traditional knife.
Moving this to General Knife Discussion.

I like the #72 & the #73 & if I would go for a smaller Knife it would be the Swayback Jack or the Gent..!!
I feel like you can't beat anyone of these Knives for a true Gentleman's Knife.** Course my opinion only.!**

Slim so as to not make bulges in pockets - if it has a clip, it needs to be discrete or very well designed. Made of fine materials with high fit and finish (jewelry-like). Lots that fit that definition. I have traditionals that fit, and some moderns that do. I don't think I could name an "ultimate" because that would mean having to choose just one. :)

Personally, I don't really like the William Henry's - though I can see how many people do. Just not my style.

I do, however, really like this Erickson Serpentine Jack.

Lots of knives fit the "ultimate gentlemans folder" description. Damascus Skyline, various traditionals but if you want to go modern materials the Case carbon fiber Sodbusters would probably be one of them.

I bought this Orvis...(made by Case for ORVIS) today for my son-in-law. He spends a lot of time with Adult Ed and lots of sheeple in his job. I figure this should work just about right.

This seems pretty gentlemanly.

Not in order:

William Henry

Case Slim Lock. Almost any color or material grip you can think of. Mirrored BG42 blades, very light
at a bit over 2 ounces. I love mine in Crimson red bone. BG42 is BG42. If one was
to buy every one released over the years it would cost a pretty penny. Example: http://www2.knifecenter.com/item/CA5170/Case-SlimLock-Series-Mother-of-Pearl-with-Drop-Point-Blade

Falkniven The TK3, the FH9, PXL, heck, take your pick in 3G or CoS ( Cobalt special). Made by Moki so the lockback just gets smoother and smoother over the years as long as you don't let grit get in it.

For me (not in order as I find them pretty close to being equal):

T.A. Davison
Alan Davis Knives
John Lloyd

All forum members. I own multiples of all these builder's knives and they are all just outstanding. Also, very reasonable pricing which is important if you are going to actually carry them (I do...)
