Not in order:

William Henry

Case Slim Lock. Almost any color or material grip you can think of. Mirrored BG42 blades, very light
at a bit over 2 ounces. I love mine in Crimson red bone. BG42 is BG42. If one was
to buy every one released over the years it would cost a pretty penny. Example: http://www2.knifecenter.com/item/CA5170/Case-SlimLock-Series-Mother-of-Pearl-with-Drop-Point-Blade

Falkniven The TK3, the FH9, PXL, heck, take your pick in 3G or CoS ( Cobalt special). Made by Moki so the lockback just gets smoother and smoother over the years as long as you don't let grit get in it.

Wow. You win the thread with the SlimLock...
I've never seen that before!
Premium steel, 2.5 inches, modern folder by the most classic traditional company and that one with the mother of pearl on it...
Wow. I've never seen a more beautiful production knife.

Other than the aforementioned William Henry, the CRK Mnandi, Benchmade 480-1 Shoki, Fallkniven GP and Spyderco Air Bradley.

It's a very simple and smooth as heck liner lock design that can be repaired if it was to go bad and the owner was fond of it and didn't prefer replacement. I've had mine for 5 years or so and other than light use mine doesn't see much. I wouldn't get rid of it though. The color is like the old knives Case used to make with no wash outs or spots. It's very well done. The pivot is smooth as I've ever seen including new ball bearing types. In smoothness the only knife that came close is the now discontinued Buck Mayo TNT.

I'm still a BG42 fan as well and it suits me well. There are some older releases in other materials and colors unsold here and there at some shops.

Good luck.

I don't have a great many knives, but I have several. Also, I prefer small knives for every day. At the moment I think the Case Sway Back Jack with CV blades is perfect.

Slim so as to not make bulges in pockets - if it has a clip, it needs to be discrete or very well designed. Made of fine materials with high fit and finish (jewelry-like). Lots that fit that definition. I have traditionals that fit, and some moderns that do. I don't think I could name an "ultimate" because that would mean having to choose just one. :)

Personally, I don't really like the William Henry's - though I can see how many people do. Just not my style.

I do, however, really like this Erickson Serpentine Jack.

Hard to beat a custom traditional folder :)

Though I do like my Mnandis too...

Although i could never afford one, my vote goes to a Johnny Stout. Check out his site, get your mind blown. then cry yourself to sleep as you'll probably never own one :(

I've always felt Johnny's knives were still gentleman folders, but youre probably right on the Art knives

The Boker Haddock is a great gentleman's titanium frame lock. The edge retention is extraordinary and the stone washed finish on the blade extremely durable. The textured G10 handle is very comfortable and the sheep's foot blade very non-tactical. The blade is really thick on the spine (5mm!), allowing a lot of leverage to be applied. The blade contour also makes one-handed opening very easy, even without the nail nick.
