When I feel like its been long enough I will pull it out, examine and weigh it. If a bath in ounces of ballistol won't badly etch copper, I wouldn't worry about the tiny amount used to lube. WeaponShield is the better lube though. I use it on anything that I don't plan to routinely use on food.
