The (un)Official SDFK Thread

That makes me want the sdfk even more.
How does the HDFK S-grind compare to the double bevel grind of the kephart?

The Kephart has a convex grind which helps reduce sticking in certain kinds of cuts and can help you split small wood with less drag. We simulated some of the functionality of a convex grind by creating two flat grinds that were 1° different.

The S grind is kind of like a very shallow convex grind that is also very narrow and is actually pinched in slightly hollow in the center. A convex grind like you see on the Kephart would not be prone to binding in a chopper which would be useful in Blade sports, but it would not bite very deep either and would not be competitive.

Bumping this thread again as my wife pesters me about our trip

My response " I need that sweet sig SDFK or we're not going!"

Beat that woodysone woodysone lol

Yeah we're really close to starting beveling those. We'll be cutting chips in about two weeks.

Seriously, they're sitting there waiting on me to make the fixtures to put them on the horizonal mill. I've already done the designs and programming and I've got the machine set back up for fixturing. It needs about four days of my time and the SDFK will be back into production. But, with the recent death in my family, Blade Sports Nationals, both Jo and Ben needing new Comp choppers at the same time, Blade show coming up, finishing up the UF pre-order and getting the DEK123 into production I'm just so totally overwhelmed I'm really struggling. It's frustrating to me that the SDFK isn't running, and it keeps feeling like it's right there, but these double edge dagger ground Utility Fighters are actually really difficult. *shrug*

As my bride likes to say when I need encouragement: You look like a duck in water even if you feel like a cat in water. ;)

You guys are rocking it; all will come in time. On the user side, the anticipation's half the fun...
