The unofficial, non binding, carries no weight, 2020 forum knife possibility discussion thread

2019 was my first forum knife, and ive thoroughly enjoyed the process and the result. I wouldnt mind a repeat, theres some really nice ones from past years. Im hoping for a finely made slipjoint, a gec would be fine, I dont have a barlow yet either but ill leave it up to the forum to decide whats next.

If this does indeed happen, this year is going to be the first time I'm involved in the selection process. I have no idea why I haven't looked into it in years past, I guess I didn't understand the process, or I certainly would have been here!

Being my first year, I'd love to see a folder over a fixed blade, they just seem to be are way more 'customizable', meaning more things we get to vote on and have fun with. Either way I really hope that we make this happen again this year and I really look forward to being more involved in the overall process.

Cheers and Happy Friday to all you fine folks!

Snodgrass Snodgrass it is not surprising you do not understand the process of forum knife creation.....

it is like trying to understand the number of grains of sand on a beach, how the stars came to be in the universe, or the miracle of Cool Ranch flavor Doritos.
I finally broke my Doritos addiction several years ago. Why, oh why, did you have to mention Cool Ranch Doritos???:eek::rolleyes:

Chips (in the American slang sense of the word--i.e: potato chips, corn chips, etc) are significant contributors to the formation of kidney stones. If that doesn’t inspire you to rise above any chip addictions, there's no hope for you.

And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming... I hope whatever knife we end up getting this year can be ordered by July 1 and then made and delivered before the end of the third quarter.

I really, really like the idea of the Buck 212 ranger that Old Hunter Old Hunter is touting. That could really be a tremendous option!

On a different note, the longer and longer it takes for us to get a manufacturer lined up and on board, the less and less inclined I am to be in favor of a GEC made forum knife. Due to their larger runs these days, trying to fit something special in their crowded schedule seems like it is going to become a determining factor in the future. The 2019 forum knife did not arrive in my mailbox until it was practically the New Year - I am not blaming anyone for that, mind you, it is just indicative of the potential hurdles we face these days.
