The unofficial, non binding, carries no weight, 2020 forum knife possibility discussion thread

Isn’t this what happens every year? Everyone posts up what they want, almost no one gets their wish, yet plenty of forum knives get sold. Maybe I’m not understanding your question though.

Right. This thread is an interesting sounding-board, ideas might coalesce into a reality, but very seldom is it what we really long for and that's fine too. There are so many Traditional knife patterns that talking about them can go on for an eternity, fortunately.

Alright, we all need a Norfolk either Shadow or Tip-Bolsters- Smooth Bone or a wonderful Acrylic that imitates waterfall Cell or Butter&Molasses

See what I mean?:D:thumbsup:

The question that has been on my mind for a while now ...and I believe it to be quite pertinent..
How many of us will forego our "dream knife grails" when it gets down to the fact that it might not be what we are getting fepending on poll results and availability of someone to build it ?
I think I "lost" almost every poll but i absolutely love my 2019 knife. I cant remember exactly but I think the only things I specifically voted for and is on the finished product is a matchstrike long pull and the blackwood covers. Maybe I voted sheepfoot but not saber(oh wait your down under, sabre ;) )ground. But now that I have it I still love it:cool::thumbsup: As an aside I'm not so much worried about the pattern as to who the maker is. It seems GEC has become the default setting, but are there other options we haven't explored? Thats why I suggested sending out a feeler to Utica, the sad truth is there aren't many choices :( I think we should be brainstorming more over WHO is possible not what pattern is. Just my opinion

Just thought about the Fighting Rooster thread that was started the other day. Here's a pic of a 2019 product, I honestly know almost nothing about the current owner and quality. Maybe others can chime in with an opinion if this is another viable option for a manufacturer.

Granted I'd definitely would want to loose the extension out the back, but looks well made. Just throwing it out there.

The other main factor in getting the ball rolling with a BF knife is that we need a dealer who is affiliated with the forums to stand up and shoulder all the heavy lifting. There are only so many dealers of traditional style knives who are also here on BF in a capacity that they would want to do all that work for no profit. That's why it really comes down to GEC and Buck.

The store that sold that particular model is about 10 miles from me, and I handled several examples when they arrived.

Without meaning to be unkind, the level of quality was...less than high.

Worth remembering, to avoid confusion for folks who don't normally post here, and just come across this thread, that this isn't the annual BF knife, it's the annual knife for the Traditional sub-forum

There is a annual BF knife over in General or one of the other sub-forums?
I was not aware of that.

Edit: My original post here was placed in the wrong thread. My error. Deleted.

YES! Pay attentiono_O You and everybody else has signed a Faustian Pact to have a 7" Whaler with Walrus Tusk and Scrim, weight 1 lb some ounces/475g :D oh yeah, it's 675 USD plus a load for shipping but think what it will flip for
Good news everyone.
My application form for my Australian Polar Bear keepers license has been mailed off...if accepted its simply a matter of building a secure compliant Bear Keepers facility ( council development consent permitting),locating and importing 5 live orphaned Polar Bear cubs( adherent to importation restrictions) , raising and training them for Walrus hunting, making the journey to a well known Walrus hunting ground in Alaska (weather permitting and pursuant to availability of an icebreaker vessel suited to housing of large carnivores and with a walrus flensing unit on board). The rest is easy!
Recovery time from maulings and bankruptcy along with time served at Happy Hectares Home for the mentally deficient with early release for good behaviour....should bring us nicely up to early December. P.O.P!.
Thats IF I can get time off work

Sounds like a plan.:)

I wonder if giving each knife (if there's another) a serial number and logging to whom each person receives which number(chosen randomly) would discourage flippers? I could see it being a pain to even a secondary flipper, for example: if I sold mine from necessity, I could log on here and say I just sold my forum knife #037 for $100,so if anyone sees #037 marked up sky high black ball the seller if possible. As I would have the buyers name from the sale I could make public who it is. Just a thought, maybe I'm over simplifying it.
