Hide as many as you can around the neighborhood like you're a KGB sleeper or John Wick. Just in case.well then maybe I can buy one for the Mrs. and a possible future second child, too! I love to hear about you guys stashing (or pre-patina-ing) knives for your kids. My dad showing me how to use and maintain a knife was one of those highlights in my life.
im so pleased- Mrs. Engrsorenson found a Case in purple bone she liked. She doesn’t take much interest in this hobby, so I ordered it for her immediately, but if you can believe it, it has been back ordered for a month and a half. It’s really dashed her enthusiasm. Maybe we could get a smooth purple bone 86 forum knife and it’d pick that back up!
When I inquired about getting one, I was told I’d have to use a third party and was never given any more info, mind you I didn’t press for said info either. A couple members were willing to make it happen but I wasn’t enthused enough about the knives, (partially because of the hassle) to bother. The couple I have were simple purchase and wait deals. The only hoop we had to jump through last year was waiting patiently while Charlie risked the ire of CBSA, crossed the border to his mail service, came back with the knives, and reshipped them to us (then having to quarantine himself for 2 weeks). I definitely didn't feel put out
Can't remember hassles for the other forum knives getting shipped up here, mind you I've skipped a couple.

Well, there are no duties on USA made products so there’s no concern there. The only thing would be restrictions on certain materials. Ivory of course, a couple exotic endangered woods and a few others but most are perfectly fine. Here’s what I think happens concerning CBSA and seizure of LEGAL knives.
Lots of people want to try to fly knives to canada under the radar...they undervalue (because canadian customer wants to save on tax and duties) or list it as some “camping tool” or the like.
I have been shipping legal knives for myself into canada for 20 years. I have used every shipping service around. Lol. I don’t lie about the price, and I correctly have it stated what is in the box. I have not once had a knife seized even after being inspected.
Lying/trying to deceive on the customs form is illegal. CBSA has google, so if they inspect it and it is undervalued or not what is stated...it’s getting seized.
Slipjoint are 100% legal to ship to Canada. Appropriate value and stated as a non-locking pocket knife.
That being said, anything can happen...been good so far...knock on wood.
@Pàdruig Pretty sure you knew this already, but tagging you nonetheless.
Sorry for the slight derailment
Your taste in movies is... exquisite.Hide as many as you can around the neighborhood like you're a KGB sleeper or John Wick. Just in case.
I don't hard is the right way to think about it. Whether you are learning to hand cut dovetails or swim butterfly, some things just take practice. Math is no different. Then it would need a built in calculator cause everyone knows maths is hard.![]()
I love how this almost makes sense.....and you left it for us to enjoy rather than fix it. I think we should put 449 as the tang stamp on the knife. If its 348 total replies and 202 of those are asking for 2 knives...that would be 348 + 101 = 449 knives.
Edit to add: This is wrong. Haha
This is also true. USA made products are duty free if the sender fills out the CUSMA papers. Taxes are still owed tho. There is no form for waiving taxes on USA made products. However, under CUSMA, USA made products are supposed to be tax free if value is under $100. Sometimes customs lets some more expensive items go through tax free at their discretion.Well, there are no duties on USA made products so there’s no concern there. The only thing would be restrictions on certain materials. Ivory of course, a couple exotic endangered woods and a few others but most are perfectly fine.
I have what is equivalent to dyslexia with numbers, I especially mix up the middle 2 in numbers with four places. 1234 becomes 1324 essentially. I do carpentry work and use numbers daily, still a struggle sometimes thoughI don't hard is the right way to think about it. Ha I do that all the time, except sometimes I write letters for the numbers instead. Then I'm left wondering how many inches 3H is.I have what is equivalent to dyslexia with numbers, I especially mix up the middle 2 in numbers with four places. 1234 becomes 1324 essentially. I love this idea. Might as well have a good inside joke!Every knife should be stamped “1 of 449” regardless of how many are made.
My first post in this thread but I feel like I’ve read the whole darn thing!
If I remember correctly, their cap on SFO’s used to be 500.
Another thing that might be worth considering is that, while they may agree to produce a much larger number of knives than usual, having offered to make us a knife, they might not be entirely happy about it, and this may affect their willingness to work with us in future. It might be worth us simply asking how many knives they are happy producing. If it's 500, then some folks are going to have to alter their expectations
