I cant remember the last time I had to use a bottle opener . I have a Leatherman Kick and want to file it down into an awl or something useful. Maybe even make it pointy like a needle.
Do you guys actually get use out of a bottle opener?

I can open bottles with almost anything, so never use the bottle opener in my sak's or other pocketknives.
But I use the bottle opener on my keychain from time to time when I have to open many bottles at once or when I'm lazy.

Correction. Its a bottle \ can opener. May use it as can opener some day. Probably not. Have used it as a flint striker.

That's funny, our 'after work beer' is MGD. You can actually pop 'em with a sharpie marker if you're determined enough. Unfortunately it's still US beer inside!:D
There are so many corners on knives and keys and such that I don't really see the need either, especially when there's also a can opener.
Do you guys know if any of the makers on here do one-off blades for SAKs and such ?

The lanyard ring is useless ,too. Im going to file it down to something pointy. Maybe I could remove a splinter with it then.

I don't much like the Leatherman can opener. It works, but I like the ones on a SAK or just a good old p-38 much better. Never used it for opening bottles. The bottle opener on a SAK, which is a completely separate implement from the can opener, is also a large flat head screwdriver which I often find useful. And I do occasionally use it as a bottle opener too if I'm feeling lazy.

I always use the bottle opener on my soldier sak
i know you can use many things, like like bic lighters end, to open bottles, but i prefer the one in the sak :D
i dont like to open the bottle with my delica, which wasnt made for that,
and the zippo i carry now, i kinda dont want to scratch it that bad with a beer cap

On my Victorinox multis the bottle opener is useful as a screwdriver and for light prying, but it doesn't get but occasional use opening bottles.

I want to replace the bottle and can openers on my Vic Fieldmaster with the metal saw/file.

A survival instructor I know filed his bottle opener into a chisel for wood carving...worked out nicely.

Sure, one can open a bottle with a blade spine, but I would never buy a SAK that didn't have a bottle opener. I might need a Samuel Adams. Now the corkscrew, I can live without. MD 20/20 has a screw off cap.

In actual use, my bottle openers get more work than probably anything but the main blade on my SAKs, maybe even than them. Its also a flat head screwdriver tip.

Haven't tried one on any other multitools. Its something I wouldn't need if I was out in the wilderness, but useful for the day to day stuff.

I use the bottle opened on my SAK to open the good foreign beers.

Some aquaintances use the front sight of their M-4 assault rifles to open beer bottles.

You can actually open a bottle of beer with a one dollar bill if you know how to.

I've used mine as a can opener on several occasions while camping, and even when I moved. I didnt bring my kitchen can opener with me, so I was forced to use my multitool to open cans for a few days until I could get to the store and buy a more convenient can opener. Its a life saver while camping though - rather than tear up a knife struggling to cut open the top f a can, you just use the bottle opener on your multitool and save yourself time and possibly an injury.

I rarely used the bottle opener in my sak that was attached to my keys. I found it too cumbersome to get my keys, get the proper tool out, and open the bottle with all my keys flopping around. I do, however, use the 'bottle opener' on my waved delica all the time.
