The useless bottle opener- multitool

I just opened a Sam Adams Black Lager (yes, I'm a beer snob) with my LM Wave. No troubles.

I guess the bottle opener isnt useless. I never use one. Didnt know that others used them so much.

I like Guinness Extra Stout and Bass Ale. The caplifter on my SAK gets pretty regular use.

I often use my bottle opener as well as the P-38 I carry around my neck. Hard to open Sam Adams without one.
Of course I prefer Yuengling Black and Tan and I don't need a bottle opener for that.

The standard SAK bottle opener is one of my favorite bottle openers of all time. It contacts almost in the middle of the cap, and doesn't wear down like the crummy aluminum give-aways. Leatherman Micra is poor, but gets the job done. Atwood mini-Prybaby (older style, with no cutouts) is also poor, but most likely to survive a nuclear strike.

living in the philippines, mine sees a lot of use. most of the sodas you buy on the street (coke, pepsi, sprite, popcola, etc) all need a bottle opener (or something that works like one). it just depends on location i suppose

That's funny, our 'after work beer' is MGD. You can actually pop 'em with a sharpie marker if you're determined enough. Unfortunately it's still US beer inside!:D

That's just water. If you want a real US beer, come to Oregon. Micro brew capital of the world.

And yes, you need a bottle opener here. ;)

Ah yes, a little Dead Guy Ale perhaps.
Unfotunately we don't have a good Black and Tan here in OR. Some great smoked Porters though. And yes, they require an opener.

Yep, bottle opener and corkscrew are probably numbers 3 & 4 in use on my SAK Huntsman after the main blade and scissors. Lots of microbrews and home-brew, the capper I use REALLY put's 'em on snug!

Yeah, yeah- I hear everyone talk about how they "can" use something other than a bottle opener to open a bottle. First, how handy, quick, and often does it work for you? For me, I used to be all about doing the macgyver open, until I realized that using a lighter/whatever for the improvised push technique left me bleeding everywhere too often. My waved knives are there for a reason- for me to justify my knife purchases to non-knife nuts!

My Arrogant Bastard Ale cap doesn't twist off. I'll keep the bottle opener!

Well, living in Germany I learned to open beer bottles with every available implement at a fairly young age. There are no twist off beer bottles in Germany (that I know of), and the legal drinking age is 16 (!)..... Not that anyone cares that much...

Shiner Bock,Guinness, and Spaten Optimator are my beers of choice and no twistys. So my SAK, Leatherman and Atwood Prybaby rotate for beer opening services, depending on their location on my house.

I have used the can opener on my SAK in a pinch when I can't find my real can opener.

I used the bottle opener last weekend. Removing small branches and nubs on a stick while making a bow and arrow with my kids instead of dulling out the blade.

I have used it for pulling AR takedown pins when they need a little extra convincing (some lowers need a little more effort than others- especially tight brands that haven''t seperated too many times).

Couldn't reach my bottle opener so I used the shackle key on one of my rigging knives. Beer tastes better when you have to work for it.
